collection crews to keep carefully made
piles of leaves from being destroyed.


When a leaf DID escape,
heavy-duty machinery was on hand to
keep that from happening.


And, while leaves might look
pretty being blown around- trash does

With gust upwards of 45-miles per
hour- the city had multiple calls about
trash littering the street.

a fire in Botetourt and Rockbridge
Counties.

Sunday The fire in the Smith Flats area
of the George Washington National
Forest started on Saturday.


At last check- it had engulfed
700-acres and is 50-percent contained.


Crews aren't just battling the
fire, but also rocky and steep terrain,
plus strong wind gusts.


The cause of the fire is still
under investigation.


At this point, no homes are in
danger.

because it involves stolen guns.

Investigators remained on the
scene well after the sun went down,
trying to piece together exactly what
happened.


Here's what we do know. Just
before one o'clock, a suspect walked
into the Williamson Road Pawn Shop,
shot the clerk, and fled with firearms,
some of which were dropped in the
parking lot.


It remains unclear why the


suspect shot the clerk.

was a second suspect outside who fled
the scene with the shooter.


They may have gotten away in a
white mini van with damage to the front
end.


The vehicle may have a partial
license plate number of K-L-W 96.

with a light moustache.

murder and several other charges for
allegedly killing his pregnant
girlfriend.

VO-NAT Jason Faulkner learned this


during a preliminary hearing this
afternoon.


In June, the suspect allegedly
shot Tasha Knowlin NOW-lin after the
two had a brief argument.


Today, we learned Knowlin was
about 12 or 13 weeks pregnant.


A mutual friend of the couple
testified Knowlin believed Faulkner was
the father.


adding...even though he wasn't
so sure, he never seemed upset about
the baby.


Faulkner's defense team says he
shouldn't face capital murder, because
it was not premeditated and he never
intended to hurt the baby.

murder will have to spend at least
eight more nights in jail after a judge
denied him bond today.

degree murder.


He's accused of stabbing
20-year-old Steven Carter on
Thanksgiving morning.

Payne's attorney has appealed the
decision.

The driver was Joseph Avilez, 22,
from Bedford and the passenger was
29-year-old Michael Cardona of Goode.


The car Avilez was driving went
off a bridge and nosedived into an
embankment on Hollins Road...just off
of Plantation early Sunday morning.


Both men were ejected...the car
flipped onto the railroad tracks,
landing on top of them.


Avilez died on scene, Cardona at
the hospital.


Police believe the vehicle was
going too fast to navigate a turn.

College's artwork collection.

given the group until today to post a
one million dollar bond to postpone the
sale for six months.


But Preserve Education's Choice,
a nonprofit organization funding
litigation for opponents, asked the
court if the the group could post half
that amount and have more time to raise
the rest.


The court granted the group's request.


The college planned to sell the
four paintings ... which were expected
to bring in at least 32 million
dollars, to help the school's financial
situation.

flipping." THE ACCIDENT LEFT THORNE
PARTIALLY PARALYZED. SHE WON
MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR LEGAL SETTLEMENTS
WITH THE TIRE MAKER AND DEALERS THAT

coaches squared off in a little
non-district play as Cave Spring and
Billy Hicks hosted Radford and Rick
Cormany.

was a real back and forth affair.


Radford opened things up with a
little inside muscle as DeAndre

the harm for the Bobcats in the first
half.


Cave Spring would return the
favor on the breakout as Matt Burnette
gets the layin and draws a foul himself
for the Knights.


Greg Mackey was the difference
for Cave as the point guard spins in
the paint and scores with the left

past Saturday was marked the second
time Tech has been a participant in the
game's 3 Seasons of existence. .


If the Hokies make back - there
is a good chance that they won't be
going to Jacksonville.


The Fan attendance was the
smallest in the 3 Years of the game and
it looks like the Conference will not
be going back to Jacksonville, with
Charlotte being the frontrunner to host
the game next season and Tampa having
an outside shot.

Pitt's project calls for building
