firefighters may have a tough time
fighting a fire in Botetourt and
Rockbridge Counties

At this point- the fire's about
10-percent contained.
A couple hunters on North
Mountain spotted it Saturday morning.
The fire grew overnight and the
Virginia Department of Forestry says
it's burned about 150-acres.
Volunteers, along with the
Virginia Department of Forestry and the
U.S. Forest Service are working
together on a "unified attack" of the
fire.
Even though they were hoping for
more rain to help with the fight, they
say the GOOD news is no homes are in
danger.

lives of two young people.

It happened around five yesterday
morning in Roanoke....on Hollins Road,
just off Plantation...
Police say two men, both in their
twenties, were in the car going too
fast when they tried to turn onto a
bridge.
The car crashed through a
guardrail...vaulted an embankment, hit
the ground and flipped - throwing both
men.
The car landed on top of them on
the railroad tracks.

man who had been reported missing.

Clarence Arville Edmonds was
found safe at a local hotel at around
11:00 last night.
He had reportedly obtained a room
for himself for the night.
Edmonds had last been seen at
around Noon yesterday at his house on
Clover Lane near the Danville Airport.
The 85-year-old has dementia and
other medical conditions that require
daily medication.

name Leland Melvin most likely rings a
bell.

and is prepping for his first space
flight as part of the Atlantis Mission
onboard the STS-122.
Along with six others, Melvin
will be helping to expand the science
capabilities of the International Space
Station.
The Heritage High School graduate

astronaut, but says looking back, his
life in Lynchburg unknowingly led him
to his dream.

nosedived into an embankment.

It happened around five yesterday
morning in Roanoke....on Hollins Road,
just off Plantation...
Police say the men, both in their
twenties, were in the car going too
fast when they tried to turn onto a
bridge.
The car crashed through a
guardrail...vaulted an embankment, hit
the ground and flipped - throwing both
men.
The car landed on top of them on
the railroad tracks.

FROM STOP IN, NOBODY HAD SEEN OR HEARD
ANYTHING, SHE WENT BACK DOWN AND THAT'S
WHEN SHE SAW THE CAR UPSIDE DWON ON

could top 50-55 mph. Even higher gusts

tonight, but it'll still be a bit
