RACIAL AND SEXIST REMARKS ABOUT THE
RUTGERS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM... DON
IMUS SAYS HE STILL REGRETS THE
INCIDENT... ---SOT--- I haven't talked
to anyone and didn't see any point in
going on some sort of Larry King Tour
to offer a bunch of lame excuses for
making essentially a reprehensible
remark. ---TRACK--- STARTING THIS WEEK,
HIS SHOW AIRS ON W-A-B-C A-M RADIO IN
NEW YORK AND ON CABLE TELEVISION'S
R-F-D T-V.... A NETWORK THAT CATERS TO
RURAL AMERICA. IN APRIL... IMUS IGNITED
CONTROVERSY WHEN HE CALLED MEMBERS OF
THE RUTGERS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM -
QUOTE - "NAPPY HEADED HOS" - THE DAY
AFTER THEY LOST THE N-C-A-A
CHAMPIONSHIP. ---SOT--- Not only has
Mr. Imus stolen a moment of pure grace
from us on collegiate athletics'
grandest stage, under the brightest
lights... ---TRACK--- MORE THAN
ONCE...IMUS APOLOGIZED. ---SOT--- I'm
sorry I did that. I'm embarrassed I did
that. I did a bad thing. ---TRACK--- AT
THE TIME, CIVIL RIGHTS GROUPS CALLED
FOR IMUS' FIRING. ---SOT--- It's not
about taking Imus down. It's about
lifting decency up. ---TRACK--- I'M
