robbery at a Northwest Roanoke Pawn
Shop, is expected to live.

It was just before one o'clock
yesterday afternoon when a man walked
into the Williamson Road Pawn Shop,
shot the clerk, and got away with
firearms, some of which were dropped in
the parking lot.
It remains unclear why the suspect
shot the clerk.

second person outside who ran away from
the scene with the shooter.
They may have gotten away in a white
mini van with damage to the front end.
The vehicle may have a partial
license plate number of K-L-W 96.

Blacksburg was damaged by fire last
night.
Oge-Chi's Restaurant on Draper
Road was filled with smoke when fire
fighters arrived around 11.
According to officials, the
sprinkler system put out the fire.
The restaurant was closed at the
time and no one was injured.

out a forest fire in Rockbridge and
Botetourt Counties ...

Sunday The Forest Service says the fire
in the Smith Flats area of the George
Washington National Forest is
50-percent contained.
About 700-acres have burned.
Crews from around the country and
here locally have been working on the
fire.
According to the Forest Service,
the fire is expected to be
full-contained by Friday.
So far, no one has been injured
and no homes are in danger.

Christian Broadcasting Network to his

trying to block the sale of several
pieces from Randolph College's artwork

given the group until yesterday to post
a one million dollar bond to postpone
the sale for six months.
However, Preserve Education's
Choice, a nonprofit organization
funding litigation for opponents, asked
the court if the the group could post
half that amount and have more time to
raise the rest.
The court granted the group's
request.
The college planned to sell the
four paintings ... which were expected
to bring in at least 32 million
dollars, to help the school's financial
situation.

for the man wanted in a double shooting
Friday night.
They have released a photo of 25-
year- old Jeremy Lamont Manns.
He is now facing two counts of
malicious wounding, and one count of
shooting into an occupied vehicle.
Police say the victims were shot
on Tremont Drive, then drove to the
Stop In food Store on Hershberger Road.

was not a random act, and the suspect
knew the victims.
They're asking anyone with
information to call the Roanoke Police

murder and several other charges for
the shooting death of his pregnant
girlfriend.

VO-NAT Jason Faulkner learned this
during a preliminary hearing yesterday
afternoon.
In June, he allegedly shot Tasha
Knowlin NOW-lin after the two had a
brief argument.
Yesterday, we learned Knowlin was
about 12 or 13 weeks pregnant.
A mutual friend of the couple
testified Knowlin believed Faulkner was
the father.
She says he wasn't so sure, but
was never upset about the baby.
Faulkner's defense team says he
shouldn't face capital murder, because
it was not premeditated and he never
intended to hurt the baby.

murder will have to spend more time in
jail after a judge denied him bond.

degree murder.
He's accused of stabbing
20-year-old Steven Carter on
Thanksgiving morning.

November Payne's bicycle, and that led to the
fight that eventually left Carter dead.
Payne's attorney has appealed the
decision.

names of the two men who were killed in
an accident over the weekend...

The driver was Joseph Avilez, 22,
from Bedford and the passenger was
29-year-old Michael Cardona of Goode.
The car Avilez was driving went
off a bridge and nosedived into an
embankment on Hollins Road...just off
of Plantation early Sunday morning.
Both men were thrown from the car
that then flipped onto the railroad
tracks, landing back on top of them.
Avilez died on scene, Cardona at
the hospital.
Police believe the speed was too
fast for the turn.

admitted to murdering his father will
likely spend the rest of his life
behind bars.

sentenced to 65 years in prison on
multiple offenses, including first
degree murder.
He pled guilty to the crime last
year.
Investigators say Songer killed
his father in October, 2006.
William Reed Songer, Senior was
found shot to death in a grassy area
off Merrimac Road.

time yesterday trying to keep carefully
made piles of leaves from being
destroyed.

hour- the city had multiple calls about

fast-moving clipper will skirt through
West Virginia and parts of Virginia
tonight. This may provide a few
rain/snow shower. As a result of the
speed and the amount of dry air, little
snow accumulation is expected for most
areas. Look for a cold Wednesday
though, with highs only reaching the
low 40s. Thursday remains dry, but a
warm ridge will set-up by the weekend.
This will push temperatures well into
the 60s, and block most storms from
making it into the region. Translation,
