residents in Washington State and
Oregon reeling and forced the governors
of both states to declare a state of
emergency. Many roads are impassable,
power lines are down and schools and

straight day. Mudslides blocked this
Amtrak train headed for Vancouver.

About 80 miles south of Seattle, a
military chopper was used to pluck
people stranded in floodwaters . Others
had to evacuate a motel when they lost
power .

knocked on the door and said we have to
leave.


Utility crews are out this morning
surveying damagethey say it could be
several days before power is restored.
And now this killer storm system is
headed to the upper Midwestwhere severe
weather has already dropped several
inches of snow. Up to six inches could
blanket Chicago by the end of the day.

the pawn shop clerk shot in yesterday's
Roanoke robbery.

Matthew Beheler.


He was taken to Carilion Roanoke
Memorial Hospital.


The hospital is not releasing any
information about his condition, though
his family reportedly says "he's doing

City police and federal agents
are looking for a pair of suspects whom
they believe may have made their
getaway in a white minivan.


They're not saying how many guns
were taken, though it appears the
robbers dropped a couple of firearms in
the parking lot as they left.

Restaurant to find the place filled
with smoke.


Fire officials say the sprinkler
system put out the fire.


Oge-Chi's was closed at the time,

One person was killed this
morning in a small plane crash at the
New Castle, Delaware County Airport.


According to reports, the plane
went off a runway just before 7-30,
crashed and caught fire.


The fire was under control in 15
minutes, but paramedics confirmed one
death.


It is not known if weather
conditions were a factor in the crash.

we're learning it may contribute to
another problem -- pollution.

releasing ground level ozone,
contributing to smog, breathing
difficulties, and global climate
change.


Many plants contribute to ozone
pollution, but it appears that kudzu
works faster and produces larger
quantities.


The plant -- a native of Japan
and China was introduced in the United
States the late 19th century as an
ornamental plant.

murder and several other charges for
the shooting death of his pregnant
girlfriend.

during a preliminary hearing yesterday
afternoon.


In June, he allegedly shot Tasha
Knowlin NOW-lin after the two had a
brief argument.


Yesterday, we learned Knowlin was
about 12 or 13 weeks pregnant.


A mutual friend of the couple
testified Knowlin believed Faulkner was
the father.


She says Faulkner wasn't so sure,
but was never upset about the baby.


Faulkner's defense team says he
shouldn't face capital murder, because
it was not premeditated and he never


intended to hurt the baby.

people trying to keep Randolph College
from selling four works in its art
collection.

given the group until yesterday to post
a one million dollar bond to postpone
the sale for six months.


However, Preserve Education's
Choice, a nonprofit organization paying
for the legal action, asked the court


if the the group could post half that
amount and have more time to raise the
rest.


The court granted the group's
request.


Randolph College wants to sell
the four paintings to help the school's
financial situation. They're expected
to bring in at least 32 million
dollars.

busy searching for tour packages to
Jacksonville on New Year's Day or Miami
two days afterwards.


But as News 7's Keith Humphry
reports, those hoping to attend the
Orange Bowl or the Gator Bowl may find
themselves at home sitting on the couch
instead.

out by Wednesday.

can promote them as part of the package
.


If the promotion doesn't mention
tickets, they're probably not included.


DOT says if the package price
increases by more than 10-percent,
you're entitled to your money back.


And the government says the tour
operator cannot raise the price by more
than 10% within ten days of

last week... but this is not the son of


the world's best golfer... instead it's
the son of one of the world's most rare
tigers.

A South China tiger, to be exact.


The cub was born on a wildlife
reserve in South Africa and is thought
to be the first such tiger to be born
outside China.


Only about 60 South China tigers
exist in captivity and according to the
founder of Save China's Tigers, less
than 30 survive in the wild.
