help in solving a home invasion style
robbery case.

Three suspects broke in to a home
early yesterday morning on Valley Road.


They demanded money from the
victims and fired a gun inside the
home, but one was hurt.

to help families of the Virginia Tech
shooting victims.


But those families stand to lose
a lot of it to taxes.


Two U-S lawmakers from our area,
Congressmen Rick Boucher and Bob
Goodlatte proposed making the donations
from the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund
exempt from federal taxes.


Yesterday, that legislation
passed in the House....now it goes to
the Senate.

School officials say the upgrade
is in response to the shootings at
Virginia Tech but can also be used if

skirt through West Virginia and
Virginia today. This will provide the
first snowfall of the season for some


of the NEWS7 viewing area.



Here's the breakdown:


North and West of Interstate 64:
Coating to 2 inches possible in the
Highlands, including Hot Springs,
Covington and Low Moor.


Roanoke, Lynchburg and NRV: Mainly
occasional light snow showers in the
morning, mixing with rain during the
afternoon. Any accumulating snow would
around 1".


Southside: Mainly light drizzle and a
few flurries are possible. No snow
accumulation.


The Alberta Clipper swings by Wednesday
night with skies turning partly cloudy.
We'll see a reinforcing shot of cold
air, with lows in the upper 20s. Winds
will continue from the northwest around
10mph.


A ridge of high pressure starts
building into the forecast area
Thursday and Friday, with mostly sunny
to partly sunny skies. Highs Thursday
are forecast in the chilly 40s, but
we'll see 50s by Friday, and closer to
60 by Saturday. The thought of "snow"
will be we'll removed by that point!
