GRAPHIC=FFE Good evening everybody and

welcome to Friday Football Extra on the
eve of tomorrow's State Championship
games.

Tonight marks our 16th and final
show of this our 24th season.

Several of our local teams took a
big hit in the State semi-finals last
weekend, but Amherst County and Gretna
are still unbeaten and still on track
to bring home the championship belts.
GRAPHIC=VHSL

In the next 30 minutes we will
will not only preview those two
championship matchups in Divisions Four
and Two, but we'll also visit with the
folks Richlands, who are trying to pull
off a repeat performance in Division
Three.

Of course we'll also have the
complete schedule of games from across
the state and meet our final Player of
the week.

So get comfortable and let's get
started

GRAPHIC=AMHERST/SHERANDO in Division Four where the

unbeaten Amherst County lancers take on
the unbeaten Sherando Warriors from

Stevens City.

For Amherst, the last two seasons
have been magical. Coming into
tomorrow Amherst has won 26 of its last
27 games including the 2006 Division
Four State title.

The benefits of that hard work
were put to the test in the State
Semi-Finals as Amherst was pushed to
the limit by Region Four champ Salem.

It was the first time all season
that Amherst had to show what it was
may of in the fourth quarter. And if
the Lancers can take on Sherando -
there no doubt Salem will get at least
a little credit for challenging
Amherst's ability to win a close one.

Saturday's game with Sherando
will feature two high powered offenses.
Together the two schools have scored
nearly 11 points this season.

finishing touches on an unbeaten

season.

And Scott Abell's club wasted no
time getting started, as Alzono Poe
scored from in close and Amherst was up
6 to nothing.

Louisa would come back,
Quarterback Jeff Mehlhaff goes around
the right side, and makes a nice move
on Poe and he takes it the rest of the
way to the house. And the game was all
tied up at 6.

Amherst has a loaded backfield
though. Jonathan Rose will bust one
loose and take it down inside the 5.
That would set up a Quarterback sneak
and the Lancers were back on top.

After Louisa scored to take the
lead by 1. Poe busted off a long one.
He will score from 60 yards out. Poe
rambled for over a hundred and 20 yards
on the day. Amherst would take a 7
point lead into halftime.

After the break, The Lancers
went to the air. Peter Rose goes up
top Ashton Paige who wins the wrestling
match for the ball. He'll get to the
endzone from 57 yards out and the lead
was up to 13.

Peter Rose would polish of the

scoring for Amherst with the Touchdown
from in close, one of 2 scores on the
ground for the Junior Quarterback.

The Lancers win 34 to 27 over
Louisa, as Coach Abell gets the bath
that even feels good on a cool night,
because Amherst is your Group Double
"A" Division 4 State Champions. The
second title in School History.>>
