her 79-year-old husband Charlie were
killed.

Two men were killed there,
another man was flown to a North
Carolina hospital.

(END SOT) of the Danville repair shop where two
men were killed Saturday.
The site is drawing attention
from many who are still trying to
figure out what happened.
"I hear a tank blew up, and they
tried to get out but they couldn't make
it out."
Fire officials are still trying
to figure it all out too.
"Did we fail? We ask ourselves
these questions."
The cause of this fire is still
being looked at.
The same goes for this fire in
Keeling.
Chief Kevin White says a rural
location made fighting this fire more
difficult than most.
"This fire went undetected. It
was obscured quite a distance from the
main road."
It's a problem firefighters face
all over our region.
"This home was probably somewhere
in the neighborhood of 40 to 45 years
old."
"Woodframe construction, if fire
breaks out, it spreads pretty rapidly."
White says preventing another
fire like this will take some work on
the part of homeowners.
"Electrical wiring needs to be
kept in a good state of maintenance and
repair."
"Any type of heat source in the
home needs to be a safe distance from
anything combustible."
Combustibles may have played a
role in the Danville fire.
Experts say it's important to pay
attention anytime you're dealing with
something flammable.
"We all have a tendency from time
to time to miss the little things, and
it's the little things that sometimes
can cause us the most problem."
Since we don't know the cause of
either fire, officials say they don't
know whether any of these tips could
have saved a life this weekend.
But they say we need to watch
things like space heaters and anything
else that produces heat, like a
furnace, since those are behind most of
the fires we see this time of year.

last night.

When officers got there, they say

Center. This isn't bad for January.
Sunday night will be partly to mostly
cloudy with areas of patchy fog. Lows
are forecast in the low and mid 40s.
Wind will be calm.
Monday starts with some clouds,
however, we'll see increasing sunshine
through the mid morning and into the
afternoon. Everyone will be talking
about the pleasant temperatures, as
highs are forecast in the mid and upper
60s. This will continue into Tuesday. A
few long-standing records could fall
the first two days of the week.
A strong cold front crosses the area
Tuesday night into early Wednesday
morning. Scattered showers will
accompany the front, as well as cooler
temperatures. Highs Wednesday are
expected in the mid 50s with morning
showers, then increasing sunshine.
A fast upper flow will bring
disturbances across the region for the
rest of the week. Shower chances are
high Thursday and Friday with
temperatures near 50.

Orange Bowl loss has yet to subside and
this evening the news got a little
worse for Hokie fans with the news that
starting cornerback Brandon Flowers
will pass up his final year of
eligibility to turn pro.

in tackles this season with 86 and tied
for the team lead with five
interceptions. In the past two seasons,
Flowers has amassed 137 tackles, 15.5
for loss, eight interceptions and 27
passes broken up. He is projected to
be a late first round or second round
selection in the April draft.
The Hokies already were
expected to lose 6 other defensive
starters to graduation. Tech fans will
now wait to see if Macho Harris, the
other cornerback, decides to follow
Flowers or stay in school for his final
season.

in the NFL, and today two more teams
punched their tickets to the divisional
round next weekend.

But then Phillip Rivers got
things going hitting Vincent Jackson on
the 25 yard touchdown pass giving the
Bolts their first lead of the game at
10-6 entering the fourth quarter.
Rivers threw for 292 yards on the day.
LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for
just 42 yards but he got on the board
with the short TD run in the fourth
quarter.
The San Diego defense did the
rest, closing the door on Vince Young
and the
*CG final Tennessee Titans. The Chargers won it by a
6 final score of 17 to 6. They'll get a
San Diego trip to Indianapolis next week.

pulled off the upset today at Tampa,
grabbing their first playoff win since
2001.

receiver Demetrius Doss was in the
valley tonight practicing his new craft
as a Hip Hop Christian artist.

Prezidino, played a free concert at the
Oak Grove Church of the Brethren in
Roanoke County.
Doss was born in South
Philadelphia, but grew up in Virginia
Beach and attended Atlantic Shores
Christian School where he starred in
football and basketball.
He played at Marshall with Byron
Leftwich and after a short career in
Arena League football he began
producing rap music with a positive
message.
He says growing up in the
Tidewater area has greatly influenced
his lyrics.

to get out of jail - okay - but how he
did it...is not sitting so well with
the cops.

could spring him from the slammer - and
they did it.
But now, the man says he never
asked his friends - who are also former
inmates - to do such a thing.
At one time, all of them were
