Bedford County Saturday afternoon has
now spread into a serious fire -
already devouring as many as 500 acres
by Sunday morning.
Dozens of people including Loretta
Reaves were told to pack up and leave
their homes.

evacuation shelter.

in Roanoke County has shut down the
southbound lanes of the highway.

The fire started on Lock Haven
Drive when a power line went down this
afternoon.
Last word from Roanoke County
was that the fire had burned about 75
acres.
More than 40 firefighters are on
the line there.
Parts of Timberview Road have
been evacuated.
And the high winds are forcing
firefighers to move elsewhere
Southbound I-81 is closed from
the Hollins Exit to I-581.
Traffic is being rerouted onto
Route 11.
Two other smaller brush fires
in the county are under control.

Campbell County tonight.
A fire on Candlers Mountain
burned at least 10 acres.
Firefighters were trying to
protect several homes and buildings in
the area of Camp Hideaway Road.
At least one person was
treated for smoke inhalation.

Emergency Services says there
have been no evacuations, but

Hillary Clinton's campaign to cancel a
major rally here in Roanoke.
Hundreds of people lined up to
see the presidential candidate in
person at Patrick Henry High school.
It was canceled about 30 minutes
before it was scheduled to start.
