end of a tragic era.

July, 2000 Flames gutted the sanctuary of
Lexington Presbyterian Church in the
summer of 2000.
The 160-year-old building was
almost a total loss, but the
congregation worked hard to rebuild.

restoration of the building wasn't
complete until today, when a new pipe
organ was dedicated.

Presbyterian Church have started this
way for decades.
But it's never sounded quite like
this.

Sunday marks the first time this
church has had an organ of its own
since fire destroyed their old one in
2000.

The organ was built by C.B. Fisk
- a company used by churches all over
the country.
Their organs are so popular,
Lexington Presbyterian was forced onto
a years-long waiting list when they
ordered theirs.
But church members say, it's
worth the wait.

HealthCheck Banner asking some of its patients to find a
new place to live.

Avante {Uh-von-tay} at Roanoke is
shutting down its Special Care Unit.
That means all patients who rely
on a ventilator to breathe must move to
another facility.
A statement from Avante says the
move will save more than a million
dollars a year.
They cite a lack of Medicaid
reimbursements from the state as a
reason for making the change.
Avante officials say they'll work
with patient families to find adequate
care for anyone that has to leave.

find out who's behind two robberies
this weekend.

An employee says two suspects
wearing ski masks came in, demanded
money, took the cash and ran off.

a call about an attempted armed
robbery on Arnett Boulevard.
The victim told police -two guys
with black bandanas over their faces,
pointed a gun at him and tried to take
the money out his pocket.
He ran though and was shot in the
leg.
He is out of the hospital this
evening.

begin tomorrow in the civil case
against former Roanoke City Sheriff
George McMillan.

In 2005...a former sheriff's
deputy sued McMillan accusing him of
making inappropriate comments and
un-welcome physical contact.
The sheriff rane for re-election
in the fall of 2005 but lost to the
current sheriff Octavia Johnson.
The trial is expected to last
through the week.

current legislative session- and now
some other entities are chimining in on
payday lending.

nonprofit's are starting to offer
low-cost cash advances as an
alternative to so-called payday loans.
Some hope these new choices will
persuade state legislators to get tough
on payday lenders also known as loan
sharks.

Last Friday delegate said he wants to cap the
AMOUNT Virginians can borrow from
payday lenders.
But there's also a strong push to
cap just the INTEREST.

hoping coming back to school will mean
life getting back to normal.

recovering from a plane crash from the

Authorities think Corporal Cesar
Laurean (SEH'-sahr
LOHR'-uhnz) is on his way to Texas
though he was last seen in Shreveport,
Louisiana.
Police ran across burnt remains
which they believe are that of Cpl.
Maria Lauterbach at the suspects home
in North Carolina yesterday.
Authorities say Laurean left
behind a note admitting he buried the
body in his backyard but claimed the
victim cut her own throat.
