scene of a fire at a fertilizer plant
in Lynchburg.
The fire at the Royster-Clark
Fertilizer Plant is under control now,
but there is still no word on what
caused the flames.

It broke out around 7:30 and the
flames were visible for miles.
The building is a few miles from
Liberty University on Mayflower Drive.
We understand that no one was
inside at that time, but one
firefighter was taken to the hospital
and treated for smoke inhalation.
A HAZMAT Team was called to the
scene, but authorities say there is no
threat to the public at this time.

loan debate-- it's gaining steam with
the help of some unlikely sources.

low-cost cash advances as an
alternative to so-called payday loans.
Some hope these new choices will
persuade state legislators to get tough
on payday lenders.

one man and seriously injured two
others is back in the headlines.
This time, the news is positive.
Sean Sutherland, who survived the
crash over the Thanksgiving Holiday, is
returning to school at Lynchburg
College and heading back to the
hardwood.
His teammates couldn't be more
thrilled.

of Roanoke Senator John Edwards bill
that will be heard by the Senate
Education and Health subcommittee.
He wants the state superintendent
to come up with guidelines to eliminate
foods containing trans fatty acids from
public schools.
That would include foods sold in
vending machines.
Should abortion clinics meet the
same requirements as emergency rooms?
The state Senate has said no for
several years now.
Delegate Matt Lohr will try again
this year.
His bill applies to clinics that
perform 25- or more abortions a year.

inspiration to a local congregation.

Lexington Presbyterian Church
debuted its new pipe organ during
Sunday services.
Since that time, the church has
been using a borrowed organ from
another congregation.
But thanks to donations from
parishioners and the community, the
church is once again able to enjoy an
organ of its own.

news recently, too. The two men
injured a plane crash over the
Thanksgiving holiday are back in class
