<< Good evening, I'm meteorologist
Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. It's a taste of spring in

winter, and a great day to honor
"Weatherman's Day." Many hometowns set
records this afternoon. Clouds will
increase some tonight with a slight
chance of a shower late. A strong cold
front will approach the area Wednesday,
with scattered thunderstorms possible
during the late morning and afternoon.
Some storms could reach severe level
with the main threat being strong
winds. Warm air ahead of the front
could drive temperatures to record
levels early Wednesday. Highs will
reach the upper 60s to near 70.
Temperatures begin dropping rapidly
behind the cold front late Wednesday
night. Winds will also increase with
gusts as high as 30mph at times.
Thursday and Friday both look partly
sunny and cooler, with highs in the low
and mid 50s. By the weekend, models are
hinting our quiet pattern will change,
and we could have a few light showers.
At the moment, it appears the best
chance would be in the mountains. Highs
will only be in the mid-40s. TUESDAY
NIGHT: Increasing clouds. Low: 55
WEDNESDAY: Warm with showers/storms.
High: 68 WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Evening

shower. Some clearing. Low: 39. For

mstevens@wdbj7.com The Virginia Tech Hokies have had
pretty good success against basketball
teams in the ACC since they joined the
conference four years ago.

They've been able to win at
Carolina and at Duke,
GRAPHIC=STATE but beating N.C. State anywhere has

been a challenge.

Tonight in Raleigh, the Hokies
lost to the Wolfpack for the sixth
straight time.

ESPN-U Wolfpack legend Sidney Lowe has :00 got three of those wins over the Hokies
last season, alone.

Tonight, his team came out redhot
in the first half. Freshman J.J.
Hickson scored 21 points for the game
and Dennis Horner came off the bench
and helped the Wolfpack race out to a
19 point lead in the first half.

The Hokies were able to rally a
bit and cut it down to 14 at the break
thanks in part to Cheick Diakite's
follow slam.

Tech played much better in the
second half using a 17 to 8 run and
some tough inside play from Deron
Washington and Jeff Allen - who
finished with 15.

*CG final Virginia Tech Tech got the lead down to five in 63 the final minutes, but the Pack would N.C. State hang and win it 73-to-63.

73 The Hokies haven't win in Raleigh
since 1940. Both teams now have four
conference losses.

The Highlanders got off to a
fantastic start to the game, they would
jump out to an 18 to 1 lead to start
the game as Kenny Thomas would hit from
distance.

The lead was down to 5 at the
break and V-M-I would continue to
widdle away in the second eventually
getting the lead behind the Holmes
twins. They both topped the 20 point
mark as Travis tallied 29 a game high,
and Chavis had 23.

But Radford fought back from an
11 point 2nd half deficit to send it to *CG final Radford overtime. Martell McDuffy led the 108 Highlanders with 21 points and R-U tops

ranks here in Roanoke tonight was at
Hidden Valley as the Titans looked to

Pulaski Co.

CHANNEL=C VO-NAT

*CG locator Roanoke Co.

Pulaski Co. vs. Hidden Valley It was senior night at Hidden :00 Valley this evening as the Titans' five
upperclassmen said so long to their
home fans and played their final game
on the hardwood at Titan Trail.

One of those seniors, Luke
Hancock decided to make the most of his
swan song as he helped the Titans jump

out to a double digit lead in the first
half.

Later Hancock will look inside to
fellow senior Logan Singleton and the
six-seven center will catch and turn
and lay one in over the front of the
rim.

Another senior moment for the
Titans - this time courtesy of Nelson
Musselman, who wheels on down the right
side with the drive and hits the double
pump.

The Cougars, though, got right
back in the game as Tevin Mattox finds
Carter White in transition for the easy
two. *CG final Pulaski Co.

51 But the Titans prevail in the end Hidden Valley 60-to-51 and in the process forge a tie 60 with the Cougars for first place in the
River Ridge district and a week left in
the regular season.
