We have breaking news out of
Campbell County this afternoon.
Several Campbell County schools are
on a precautionary lockdown.
The Campbell County Sheriff says
earlier this morning, a passing
motorist spotted what looked like a man
standing along Timberlake Road with a
long gun.
All public and private schools
in the area are on a precautionary
lockdown. That includes Leesville and
Tomahawk Elementaries and Brookville
Middle and High Schools.
The sheriff says deputies have
been searching the area for about an
hour and a half. So far, they've found
nothing. Deputies will remain at the
schools as a precaution for the rest of
the day.

serious condition after being hit by a
car in the parking lot of a grocery
store.

VO-NAT Authorities say, Helga Via was
pushing her shopping cart at Kroger
yesterday afternoon when a driver,
Carnell Waller, ran over her.
According to authorities there
was some confusion about who had the
right- of- way.
Eventually, Waller came to a stop
when he backed into three different
cars.
The 69-year-old victim was flown
to a North Carolina hospital for
internal injuries.
Police charged Waller with
reckless driving.

office has ruled that actor Heath
Ledger died of an accidental overdose
of prescription drugs.

VO-NAT In a statement released this morning,
the examiner cited Ledger's abuse of
drugs including oxycodone and
hydrocodone as the cause of death.
The statement said six drugs in all
were found in Ledger's body.
Two were painkillers, two were
anti-anxiety medications and two were
sleep medications.
Ledger was found dead in his New York
apartment on January 22.
He was 28 years old.

The sheriff's office says the
15-year-olds brought the weapon on
campus last Thursday.

Leo Hirsbrunner in the SkyTracker7
Forecast Center. It's a taste of
spring in winter. A strong cold front
will approach the area this afternoon,
with scattered thunderstorms during the
day. Some storms could reach severe
level with the main threat being strong
winds. Warm air ahead of the front
could drive temperatures to record
levels once again. Highs will reach the
upper 60s to near 70. Temperatures
begin dropping rapidly behind the cold
front late Wednesday night. Winds will
also increase with gusts as high as
30-40mph at times. Thursday and Friday
both look partly sunny and cooler, with
highs in the low and mid 50s. By the
weekend, models are hinting our quiet
pattern will change, and we could have
a few light showers. At the moment, it
appears the best chance would be in the
mountains. Highs will only be in the
mid-40s. WEDNESDAY: Warm with
showers/storms. High: 70 WEDNESDAY
NIGHT: Evening shower. Some clearing.

But when the postage comes from a
foreign country or there's a check
attached... it's best to take a closer
look before running to the bank.

Chances are, you've received one.
An envelope containing a letter
saying you've won a sweepstakes.
Chances are also good, you tossed
it in the trash.
But for some, there's a check
attached to the letter that looks real.
So real, it erases any doubt that
it might be a scam.
To keep the money all they have
to do is deposit the funds and
electronically wire a fee.
The problem is, it is a scam.
Postal inspector David McKinney
sees it all the time.

bouncing a check.
The fake sweepstakes is just one
example.
Secret shopper scams are another.
A person in Roanoke recently
reported receiving a letter and a
forty-six hundred dollar check to
participate in the alleged program.
The scammer said to deposit the
check and spend some of the money at
Burger King and Walmart, then wire the
remaining four thousand dollars through
Money Gram and Western Union.
Again, this is a fraud.

A website called fakechecks.org
exposes this scam and a laundry list of
others in a creative way.
The site's also a great resource
for scam related information.
