next Tuesday.

the race will be in Roanoke in the
coming days.
Hillary Clinton will hold an
event at 4:30 Sunday afternoon. That's
at Patrick Henry High School. No word
yet if tickets will be required.
Barack Obama will hold a town
hall-style meeting Monday morning at 7.
It will take place in Roanoke, though
the exact location has not been
announced.
Tickets WILL be required,
though it's not yet known how they'll
be distributed.

the latest poll.

conducted for NEWS-7 yesterday and
today shows:
Obama ahead of Hillary Clinton in
Virginia: 59 - - 39.
The demographic background of
those polled indicates the two are
evenly divided among white voters,
while Obama has a 7-to-one lead over
Clinton among Blacks.
Clinton is the stronger candidate
among older voters, especially those in
the Shenandoah Valley... while Obama's
ahead among voters in Tidewater,
Central Virginia and the D-C suburbs.
On the Republican side, John
McCain is the clear favorite in
Virginia with 57% of those polled in
his column: 25 for Mike Huckabee... now
that Mitt Romney is out of the race.

woman shot and killed two students
before taking her own life.

The sprawling building went up in
flames Thursday night following a
deadly
explosion that rocked the surrounding
community and left a number of workers
with life threatening burns.

"We encountered 17 burns greater than
30 percent of total body surface."
At day-break the fire was still
burning...and as the day progressed it
became
clear the missing would likely not be
found alive. At least three bodies
were
found in tunnels beneath the building
and search teams are trying to reach
additional victims.

"I have friends who work at the plant.
I haven't seen the casualty list. I
have a job to perform and I don't want
to see it."

Federal investigators WILL to help
determine the cause of the blast, but
many
already suspect it was ignited by
combustible sugar dust.
One area resident considers the plant
very dangerous.

on a rampage last night.

Today, City Hall in this St. Louis

Twice he was convicted of disorderly
conduct at the
meetings.
Thornton's brother says that may have

doctors about a popular anti-wrinkle
drug.

have been linked to some deaths and
some severe side effects that suggest
botulism.
The F-D-A says the deaths were all
among child patients, mostly those with
cerebral palsy who'd been treated for
spasms in their limbs. Botox is not
approved for that use in the United
States.
The results may have included
paralysis of respiratory muscles and
difficulty swallowing.
The maker of Botox says children
with cerebral palsy have far larger
doses injected into their leg muscles
than the doses given to adults seeking
to lose their wrinkles.

Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. The jet stream is in an active
pattern with several disturbances
racing through over the weekend. The
first piece of energy will arrive early
Saturday. Most hometowns will only
notice increasing clouds, but a few
mountain areas may see some light snow
showers with little accumulation. A
stronger disturbance rolls in Saturday
night dragging a cold front behind it.
Light snow showers are possible (20%)
late Saturday afternoon and evening.
Again, not much moisture, but the wind
and colder air is a different story.
Latest models are indicating winds as
high as 60mph in the mountains and
45mph elsewhere starting late Saturday
night and throughout Sunday. Colder air
will also rush in, with highs only
managing low 40s Sunday afternoon and
lows in the 20s. After the brief cold
spell, temperatures begin moderating
early in the week with partly sunny
skies as high pressure remains in
control. FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy,
passing sprinkles. Low: 34 SATURDAY:
Variably cloudy, turning windy. Low: 55
SATUDAY NIGHT: Flurries, very windy.
Low: 36 SUNDAY: Windy, much colder.

We begin this afternoon with new
from Roanoke County concerning one of
Friday Football Extra's legendary
coaches.

Friday Football Extra The folks at Northside high
school announced this afternoon that
the football field at the school will
be named in honor of the program's
winningest coach - Jim Hickam.
The official ceremony will take
place at the first home game of the
season in September.
Hickam coached 406 games in his
career, 84 of them at Pulaski and the
rest at Northside.
In December of 2005, Hickam and
the school parted on less than ideals
terms, but time does have a way of
healing things - and this is a much
deserved honor for one of Friday
Football Extra's all-time greats.
Hickam, coached 31 years at
Northside. He will turn 67 this May.

basketball team has reached the
crossroads of a season that needs to
get better in a hurry or else.
Last night, the Cavs lost at home
by 31 points to Clemson.
Virginia has now lost five in a
row and eight of their last nine games.

Danville.
He was the guy who lied about his

This time, Jonny told his fellow
castaways his head wasn't in the game
because his girlfriend is pregnant, and
he's worrying about being a good dad.
So, was Jonny playing his
tribemates? Well, the castaways didn't
wait to find out out.
The latest "Survivor" pits fans
against favorite contestants from past
shows.
Last season, the first player voted off
was Steve "Chicken" Morris, a farmer
from Marion.
