collected include: a swab of stain on
the hood of the jeep, latent prints
including a partial palm print on the
hood, paint chips, the passenger side
headlight, papers with the name
"Jeffrey M. Young, an impression of the
stain area, three pills and the hood of
the jeep.

With a second search warrant

served on the Roanoke County Schools,
investigators picked up video from
nearby security cameras at Cave Spring
Elementary School, Cave Spring Middle
School and Penn Forest Elementary.

Police requested video from
midnight to six am on the day runner
Tom Farrell was struck and killed on
Springlawn Avenue.

Investigators say it's possible
that images from those cameras may show
the suspect vehicle travelling to or
from the crash.

girl is back with her father while her
grandparents are in police custody,
after being arrested for kidnapping.

charged with kidnapping and custodial
interference.

Federal Marshals say the Duncans
took off from Atlanta with their now

5-year-old granddaughter four years
ago.

They've been living as fugitives
at a house on Wise Street in Lynchburg.

128 man accused of killing three Christmas
Tree farmers in Grayson County last
month.

VO NAT It turns out Frederick Hammer has
a lengthy criminal past.

In October, 19-78, at the age of
18, he was accused of carjacking,
robbing and beating a Philadelphia
police officer to death.

While he was quickly caught and
convicted, he did NOT stay in jail and
after an appeals court overturned the
conviction, a second jury acquitted
Hammer.

At the time, Philadelphia
newspapers reported that as he waited
for his second murder trial - he
escaped prison and later served 9 years
for robbery and burglary-- crimes he

committed while on the run.

the move and so are plans for their new

rec center.

With only one more vote to go, it
looks like the planned project will
soon become a reality.

look like. Construction on the 30
million dollar building is set to begin
in late spring.

It will be located behind the Valley
Pointe Business Park near 581 off of
Woodhaven Road.

The thirty million dollar
facility will include two full sized
gyms, a teen center, a fitness area,
and an indoor walking track...as well
as several pools.

County leaders believe the rec
center will attract businesses to the
area and provide a better quality of
life.

This time, students at James
River High School earned it, they were
being rewarded for their generosity
yesterday.

Lady Antebellum performed for the
students.

The school won the annual "Toy
Mountain" contest, collecting Christmas
toys for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots
campaign sponsored by Star Country
Radio.

The annual contest pits area high
schools against one another. James
River was the smallest school
participating, but collected, a
whopping seven hundred forty-six toys
total.

House subcommittee unanimously voted to
table seven bills aimed at banning
smoking in restaurants and other public
places.

They say many restaurants are
going smoke free without a government

Blacksburg Delegate Jim Shuler's
(Shoe- Ler) bill has been tabled by a
House committee.

It would let localities require
them in apartments and hotels.

Opponents say carbon monoxide
detectors aren't reliable.

Delegate Shuler says something is
better than nothing.

Last summer more than 20-
residents at a Blacksburg apartment
complex were poisoned by a carbon
monoxide leak.

A bill similar to Shuler's--
sponsored by Roanoke Senator John
Edwards-- has passed the Senate and

Timber Frame show.

The show will feature plenty of

several free educational seminars.

The event kicks off today at Noon
at the Roanoke Civic Center and will go
through 5 pm on Sunday.

Admission to the event is $12--
and you can buy tickets at the door.
