Barack Obama is hoping the good

And last night, her husband,
former President Bill Clinton was in
our area helping her to do just that.
Clinton spoke to a packed house
at Patrick Henry High School, where he
expressed Hillary's apologies for not
being able to make it herself.
John McCain was also in the
area-- delivering a speech at the
Virginia Aviation Museum yesterday.
The latest News 7 poll shows his
lead over Mike Huckabee is tightening,
from 32 points last week to just an 11
point lead this morning.
And Huckabee isn't showing any
signs of slowing down.
He spoke last night in Roanoke at
the O Winston Link Museum in Roanoke
where he rallied the crowds and urged
his supporters to get to the poles.

power outages across the region.
Power is out at 20 polling places
statewide, several of which are in our
area.

southwest Virginia Tuesday. A few
mountain snow showers are possible
Tuesday (40%) with other hometowns
seeing a few light rain showers during
the afternoon. Winds will increase a
bit in the mountains as a front passes
late Tuesday (20-25mph), but nothing
like that we saw over the weekend. The
best chance of steadier rain will
arrive late Tuesday night and
Wednesday, where .25 to .50" rain could
fall through Wednesday afternoon.
Sunshine and warmer weather return
Thursday and most of Friday. The
weekend will see a few rain/snow

has burned over two thousand acres-- so
much land that officials have given it
a name...

Firefighters hope to get the
Green Ridge Mountain Fire under control
today.
The fire has been contained to an
area between Loch Haven Drive and Angel
Lane in the Hollins area.
Firefighters patroled throughout
the night keeping an eye on homes that
were once threatened, specifically on
Loch Haven Drive and Timberview Road.
At this time, no homes have been
destroyed and no one has been injured.

been determined for the fire that
ravaged 11- hundred acres there.
Authorities say a 16-year-old boy is
resonsible for that forrest fire.

the Jefferson National Park illegally
on Saturday.
Charges against him are pending.
The cost of this fire has already
hit the million dollar mark and it

burned in the National Forest area of
Craig County.

area spanned 18-hundred acres.
Forestry officials say downed
power lines started it.
They were still scouting the area
today, getting an idea of the scope of
the charred area.

firefighters trouble continue to plague
the power companies. Thousands in our
area are still without power and it may
be Friday before the lights come back
on.

NO SUPER nearly 27-thousand customers are
without power across the region.
That's down from more than
80-thousand this yesterday.
Most of those without power are
in Roanoke County and Roanoke City.
About 1500 are without power in

and Mason Cove Elementary will instead

Hirsbrunner in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. A low pressure system coming
out of the Gulf States will move into
the Ohio Valley and eventually through
southwest Virginia Tuesday. A few
mountain snow showers are possible
Tuesday (40%) with other hometowns
seeing a few light rain showers during
the afternoon. Winds will increase a
bit in the mountains as a front passes
late Tuesday (20-25mph), but nothing
like that we saw over the weekend. The
best chance of steadier rain will
arrive late Tuesday night and
Wednesday, where .25 to .50" rain could
fall through Wednesday afternoon.
Sunshine and warmer weather return
Thursday and most of Friday. The
weekend will see a few rain/snow
showers with highs in the 40s. TUESDAY:
Mostly cloudy and a few showers. High:
