GRAPHIC=Forest Fires Fire crews hope to make more progress

today as they try to get a handle on
that large forest fire in Roanoke

County.

Last Night, officials finally gave
the fire a name.

It's called the Green Ridge Mountain
Fire.

So far, more than two thousand acres
have burned near Loch Haven Drive and
Angel Lane in the Hollins area.

Parts of the fire are contained, but
a lot of it still is not.

Firefighters patroled throughout the
night, keeping an eye on homes that
were once threatened, especially on
Loch Haven Drive and Timberview Road.

At this time, no homes have been
destroyed and no one has been injured.

is responsible for an 11-hundred acre
forest fire in Bedford County.

He was riding his four wheeler in
the Jefferson National Park illegally
on Saturday.

Charges against him are pending.

Yesterday, people were allowed to
return home - even though the fire is
far from out - but still a huge sigh of
relief.

The fire in the "Little Cuba"
area covers 18-hundred acres.

Forestry officials say downed
power lines started it.

They were still scouting the area
yesterday, getting an idea of the scope
of the charred area.

There are no homes nearby --it
may be today before fire crews can
start knocking down the flames.

in the dark -- and it may be Friday
before everyone gets their power back.

VO-NAT A-E-P is now reporting that
NO SUPER nearly 27-thousand customers are
without power across the region.

That's down from more than
80-thousand this yesterday.

Most of those without power are
in Roanoke County and Roanoke City.

About 1500 are without power in
Pulaski County.

Normally voters in this precinct
go to Vinton Baptist Church itself, but
instead they'll be using the Disciple
Center which is located behind the

change- voters in the Bennett Springs
and Mason Valley precincts who usually
vote at Mountain Pass Baptist church
and Mason Cove Elementary will instead

today as they try to get a handle on
that large forest fire in Roanoke
County.

Last Night, officials finally gave
the fire a name. It's called the Green
Ridge Mountain Fire.

So far, more than two thousand acres
have burned near Loch Haven Drive and

Angel Lane in the Hollins area.

Parts of the fire are contained but a
lot of it still is not.

Firefighters patroled throughout the
night keeping an eye on homes that were
once threatened, especially on Loch
Haven Drive and Timberview Road.

At this time, no homes have been
destroyed and no one has been injured.

power lines started it.

today as they try to get a handle on
that large forest fire in Roanoke

County.

Last Night, officials finally gave
the fire a name. It's called the Green
Ridge Mountain Fire.

So far, more than two thousand acres
have burned near Loch Haven Drive and
Angel Lane in the Hollins area.

Parts of the fire are contained but a
lot of it still is not.

Firefighters patroled throughout the
night keeping an eye on homes that were
once threatened, especially on Loch
Haven Drive and Timberview Road.

At this time, no homes have been
destroyed and no one has been injured.

Forestry officials say downed
power lines started it.

They were still scouting the area
yesterday, getting an idea of the scope

out, the former Arkansas governor is
looking for more wins after taking

Kansas and Louisiana this past
weekend.
