numbers for yesterday's primary in
Virginia.
It turned out to be a strong
night for Barack Obama and John
McCain---

In Virginia Mike Huckabee was
ahead at one point and finished strong
in our own part of Virginia, but when
the numbers were tallied John McCain
came out the leader.

On the Democratic side in
Virginia, Hillary Clinton hoped to fare
better.. but she had only about half
the votes.
Barack Obama was the favorite
among the democratic voters.

That means while Obama won
Virginia, Clinton picks up about one

William Fleming High school gym because
of power outages.
While Westside voters were able
to cast their ballots quickly, the line
for the Ruffner precinct was more than
100 voters deep at times, the wait more

Appalachian Power reports there
are still 72-hundred customers without
power due to the wind storm on Sunday.
There's another two-hundred plus
who lost power because of last night's
rain and ice storm.
APCO brought in 15-hundred
workers to tackle the problem - from as
far away as Ohio and Georgia.
Roanoke County and City are still
facing the most outages - right around
two thousand.
Franklin, Botetourt,
Pittsylvania, and Amherst Counties are
all under 400 customers without
electricity.

says they're gaining ground on the
Green Ridge Mountain Fire.

So far, 24-hundred acres have
burned in the fire that started on
Sunday.
At one point, you could see the
fire from Interstate 81, but Chief Rick
Burch birch says since then, it has
jumped firelines and is now burning in
a mountain ridgetop area -heading
towards Carvins Cove Road.
Burch says crews will now work on
another fireline and hope the rain will
help.

grown....foresty officials say downed
power lines started it.
That fire has spread to more than
27-hundred acres.
But crews say they made a lot of

rain near Smith Mountain Lake.
They've been trying to
contain a fire off Tolers Ferry Road,
and they've been pretty successful.

downed power line and spread to several
hundred acres.

cogs in the Clinton machine.
And after a shake-up that's now seen
TWO campaign higher-ups leave in days,
the former First Lady must re-tool her
message to get back on track.

John McCain's Chesapeake sweep edges
him closer to the nomination - but it
wasn't the blow-out he hoped for.
The Arizona senator survived a strong
challenge in Virginia from Mike
Huckabee, who drew valuable support
from still-uneasy conservatives.

THINGS INTERESTING - MAYBE A LITTLE TOO
INTERESTING AT TIMES TONIGHT."
Huckabee's respectable showing is proof

of power outtages.
While Westside voters were able
to cast their ballots quickly, the line
for the Ruffner precinct was more than
100 voters deep at times, the wait more

contained - Roanoke County's Fire Chief
says they're gaining ground on the
Green Ridge Mountain Fire.

So far, 24-hundred acres have
burned in the fire that started on
Sunday.
At one point, you could see the
fire from Interstate 81, but Chief Rick
Burch birch says since then it has
jumped firelines and is now burning in
a mountain ridgetop area -heading
towards Carvins Cove Road.
Burch says crews will now work on
another fireline and hope the rain will
help.

rain near Smith Mountain Lake.
They've been trying to
contain a fire off Tolers Ferry Road,
and they've been pretty successful.
