that as many as 15 people were wounded
this afternoon on the campus of
Northern Illinois University in
Dekalb... 65 miles west of Chicago.

apparently the shootings occurred in a
lecture hall on campus, as students
frantically scrambled over desks for
cover.

that several people were taken away by
ambulance. the AP reports a local
hospital was expecting up to 15
victims, including three to four with
head wounds.
Police say the gunman who opened
fire is dead, and the university has
told students the immediate danger has
passed.

teacher accused of having a sexual
relationship with a 16 year-old female
student.

old, was charged with two felony counts
of taking indecent liberties with a
child in PULASKI County.
Authorities say the charges stem
from incidents at a Pulaski home last
summer.
As part of today's plea
agreement, one of the felony charges
was dropped.
The other - reduced to a
misdemeanor.

That was Kenny Tran... in April of 2007
walking out of court. A jury had just
found him NOT GUILTY on three charges
he molested a woman and her two
children in his Christiansburg salon.
But a month later he was back in a jail
jump suit. Convicted by another jury of
assault and battery. They believed he
fondled a woman as he gave her a
manicure at Sky Nails Salon.

Back in 2001 Tran pleaded guilty to
sexually abusing two women at another
nail salon in Pulaski County.

In this most recent case, police
arrested Tran AT his Christiansburg
nail salon. He's charged with felony
sexual battery... a crime punishable by

The sun came out along with the
stars of NASCAR today at Daytona for
the two 150 mile long qualifying races
that set the final grid for the Daytona
500.

Speed-NASCAR It only took two laps for things
:00 to get wild in the first race as Brian
Vickers gets tapped by Boris Said on
the high side of the track and he spins
through a pack of cars - somehow
avoiding everyone and Vickers would
continue. More on him in a moment.
Dale Earnhardt, Junior had to
start in the back after changing
engines yesterday, but he came to the
front quickly and took the lead passing
his former teammate Martin Truex,
Junior.
Dale Junior would hang for the
win holding off Reed Sorenson and Ryan
Newman.
And Vickers and Kenny Wallace
would finish ninth and 11th to earning
two of four available spots for
Sunday's Daytona 500.
But the win goes to Dale Junior -
his second victory of Speedweeks.

Toyota finally making its mark in the
sport.

Speed-NASCAR Jeff Gordon was showing off his
:00 daughter Ella and hoping to make it a
clean sweep for Hendrick Motorsports.
This 150 mile event was marred by
two red flag periods. The longest of
which was caused by rookie Jacques
Villenueve, who lost control of his
Toyota and collected at least three
others including fellow rookie Dario
Franchiti.
The race came down to a two lap
shootout and Gordon got passed on the
final lap by Denny Hamlin as Toyota
goes to victory lane for Joe Gibbs.
Dale Jarrett and John Andretti
raced their win for the final spots in
the Daytona 500.

sports teams on probation for two years
because of an academic cheating
scandal.

university says about 60 student
athletes will suffer some loss of
eligibility. A tutor and
learning specialist have already been
fired. The cheating occurred through
online testing for a course in the fall
of 2006 and the spring and summer
semesters last year.
The NCAA can still conduct its
own investigation, and decide whether
or not to ban the Seminoles from any
type of postseason play.
