at Northern Illinois University
Thursday.

(kaz-mur-check) has been described as
both an outstanding student and a
disturbed individual.
Police say he hid a shotgun in a
guitar case, and that he bought his
weapons legally with a valid Firearm
Owner's Identification Card.
Campus police say he had stopped
taking medication and became somewhat
erratic lately.

90-percent contained.

days from Loch Haven Drive to

firefighters are hoping to make even
more progress this weekend.

hospital after a fire broke out in a
Roanoke apartment.

Crews were called to 654 Highland
Avenue shortly after four this
afternoon.
One person got out before
firefighters arrived, but had to be
taken to U-V-A medical center for burns
and smoke inhalation.
A cat died in the fire.

house fire on Paxton Avenue.
Investigators say the fire didn't
cause much structural damage, but one
person was taken to Danville Regional
with significant burns --the other

afternoon in the Hollins area of
Roanoke County.

It happened just after three
o'clock at the Shadwell Drive and
Hollins Road train crossing.
Police say the driver of this
green car was driving over the tracks
when the signal came down and he got
struck by a Norfolk Southern Train.
The driver was taken to the

the force eight years is the one who
shot a teenager in Roanoke.

Northwest neighborhood yesterday off
Clifton Street.
Today Roanoke police say officer
D-Meyer pulled the 17-year old over for
a traffic stop-
The teen then ran off-- when
police ordered the teen to show his
hands and get on the ground- police say
the boy instead lowered his hands out
of the officer's sight.
Myer then fired once.. he's on
paid suspension-
Police say no weapon was
found on Joshua Brown.
He's now recovering.

for sexual assault crimes he committed
34 years ago.
A family member accused
66-year-old William Jackson Saul of
abuse from 1971 to 1974.
The victim was eight when the
abuse began.
Saul was charged with four counts
of crimes against nature - which today
is considered sodomy.
Saul is being held in the Roanoke
County/Salem Jail without bond.

Randolph College from selling four
highly-prized paintings came and went
this afternoon.

auction last November, hoping to raise
at least 32-million dollars to boost
endowment and help bolster Randolph's
academic standing.
Christie's- -the auction house in
New York- -took them off the auction
block after a group of Lynchburg
citizens went to court to block the

State courts had required them to
post a one million-dollar bond, before
forbidding the school from selling the
paintings.
Without it, the injunction
expires at midnight.
