certainly causing Virginia Tech
students to revisit memories of April
16-th - just 10 months ago.

Not too many students wanted to
talk about the shootings.

But those who did said their
prayers are with the students and
faculty in Illinois.

Students are already sending
condolences - thousands of students
have joined a Facebook page called
Hokies for the Huskies.

to respond, but no weapons were found.

It all started when a student

went to the school resource officer and
said another student had made a threat
toward someone else.

Police showed up around dismissal
time, students were urged to get out of
the school and go home.

a traffic stop-

The teen then ran off-- when

the boy instead lowered his hands out
of the officer's sight. Myer then fired
once.. he's on paid suspension-

Police say no weapon was found

He's now recovering.

for sexual assault crimes he allegedly
committed 34 years ago.

A family member accused
66-year-old William Jackson Saul of
abuse from 1971 to 1974.

The victim was eight years old at
the time.

Saul was charged with four counts
of crimes against nature - which is the
statute that existed back then.

Saul is being held without bond.

person to the hospital after a flames

broke out in a Roanoke apartment.

Avenue shortly after four this
afternoon.

One person got out before
firefighters arrived, but had to be
taken to U-V-A medical center for burns
and smoke inhalation.

A cat died in the fire.

Police say the driver of the
green car was driving across the tracks
when the signal flashed and the gates
came down. The car was struck by a
Norfolk Southern Train.

The driver was taken to the

Fossett has been declared dead.

September after taking off in a small
plane.

Today, a judge said there was
enough evidence to declare him dead,
after hearing testimony from Fossett's
family and friends, and a
search-and-rescue expert .

63-year-old Fossett made millions
in the financial industry, but was
known for his daredevil exploits.

He was the first person to circle
the world solo in a balloon.

He was also the first to fly a
plane around the world solo without
refueling.

at least 32-million dollars to boost
endowment and help bolster Randolph's
academic standing.

Christie's- -the auction house in
New York- -took them off the auction
block after a group of Lynchburg
citizens went to court to block the
sale.

State courts had required them to
post the bond, before stopping the
school from the selling the paintings.

Without it, the injunction
expires at midnight.

Decmeber 2, 2005 Flames' Director of Athletics :00 Jeff Barber announced today that the
University has extended head football
coach Danny Rocco's contract two years,
inking him through the 2012 season.
Rocco was named the program's fifth
head coach on Dec. 2, 2005, and was
given a five-year contract at the time
of his hiring. The two-year contract
extension pushes Rocco's contract back
to a five-year deal.

Rocco went 6 and 5 his first
season and 8 and 4 last year - winning
the school's first ever Big South
title.

500 is coming up on Sunday

The Great American race played a
solid second fiddle to Darlington back
in 1959 when the first 500 was run on
the high banked track. Richard Petty
was 21 years old in that first 500 -
that was won by his dad Lee Petty in a
photo finish.

Back then there was no TV
coverage and ceretainly no internet.

basketball team will be in Blacksburg
on Sunday afternoon, but tonight the
redhot Cavaliers were home at the John
Paul Jones arena taking on the North
Carolina Tarheels.

big challenge tonight in stopping
Carolina's Erlana Larkins, but in the
first half UVA did a good job of
countering her and even surpassing her
with their own inside force Aisha
Mohammed. The six-three inch junior
center from Nigeria helped UVA lead by
11at one point and 41-to-39 at the
halftme break on a varietyof low post
hustle.

But Larkins was just an amazing
force as she scored 21 points and
grabbed 18 rebounds to lead Caroilna
back into the lead.

High Point Coffee Tommy Edwards, a player of the :00 week in both 1990 and 1991 while at
Radford high, was performing on stage
tonight at High Point Coffee in South
Roanoke County.

Edwards, who later went on to
play for the Hokies, has been one of
many folks deeply touched by the events
of April 16th 2007.

Edwards is working to establish
an organization to help folks better
understand mental illnesses and he'll

astronauts on space shuttle Atlantis is
over.

pieces of a new lab to the
International Space Station in today's
six hour long spacewalk.

The spacewalkers also packed up a
broken gyroscope to bring back to
earth.

The 10 man Atlantis crew,

Between now and then though, the
astronauts have a load of work to take
care of inside the new lab.
