ANCHOR=JEAN Police say 27-year-old Stephen

Kazmierczak (cash-MEER-cheek) shot 21
people before turning the gun on
himself inside a lecture hall.

Five of the victims died.

Kazmierczak had his undergrad
degree from N-I-U... and had been a
graduate student in sociology there.

This morning Kazmierczak's dad,
asked reporters taking out at his home
in Lakeland, Florida to leave and allow
his family time to mourn.

Students on campus were mourning
too -- holding a day-time vigil as
flags stood at half-staff.

All classes were cancelled and
the campus was closed on today.
