214 was shot after being pulled over for a
traffic stop.. and it was at the hand
of Roanoke police.

yesterday morning, has left neighbors
in this Northwest Roanoke neighborhood
wanting to know what happened.


Police say an officer pulled over
a vehicle on Maryland Avenue for a
traffic stop.. .when the car stopped,
17 year-old Joshua Brown got out of his
car and took off.


That's when police started
running after him- eventually shotting
him.

who lives on Clifton Street, had just
left home in his car when he was
stopped by police.


At this point, police are not
releasing the extent of his injuries.

working on in Richmond.

A bill that sets up a commission
to study mining uranium in Virginia has
passed the Senate and is now before the
House of Delegates.


The study would take a look at
the safety and logistics of mining the
radioactive substance in Pittsylvania
County....the study would be funded by
private donors.

Driving without a license?


You're under arrest.... That'll be
the case if one bill is approved by the
House this week.


And it will require police to
take fingerprints and a photograph of


those caught.


The bill's sponsor says people

ban it have been stomped out for this

A subcommittee in the Virginia
House has effectively killed nearly a
dozen bills designed to ban smoking in


various places.


Members say the government
shouldn't be telling business owners
what to do on their own property.


They added that many restaurants
in Virginia are ALREADY smoke- free
which gives non- smokers a choice.

And finally, a bill aimed at
outlawing certain hitch ornaments on
personal vehicles has been thrown out.


Chesapeake Delegate Lionell
Spruill (Sprewuhl) introduced a bill to
ban the ornaments which he claims look
like male testicles.


The bill was assigned to the
House Transportation Committee, but the
chairman never allowed the bill to be
heard.


Yesterday Delegate Spruill
sported two Valentine's Day- inflatable


balls on the House floor to make the
point he thinks that was unfair.

the shooting of a 17- year- old boy.

Police say an officer pulled over
a vehicle on Maryland Avenue for a
traffic stop.. .when the car stopped, a
teen identified as Joshua Brown got out
of his car and took off.


That's when police started
running after him- eventually shotting
him.
