expenses, after reports that Alfred
Dowe outspent his council colleagues by
a wide margin.

The story, first reported by the
Roanoke Times earlier this week,
indicated that Dowe spent more than 14-
thousand dollars on travel, meals and
other expenses during 2007.
That's several thousand dollars
more than any other member of council,
but today Dowe said he incurred those
expenses on legitimate city business.

on Market street has been sold for
nearly two million dollars.
According to Poe and Cronk Real
Estate, the new owner is Roger Neel,
who owns several other restaurants in
the Roanoke area.
While construction has already
started on the building, the future

bacterial meningitis.
It's a contagious infection of the
fluid surrounding the brain and spinal
cord.
This type of meningitis can be very
serious...potentially life threatening.

Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. Let's talk about the weekend.
As the storm continues to pass to our
south, some wrap around moisture may
bring an evening shower or two this
evening, but that's about it. Saturday
will bring some clouds in the morning,
but mainly sunny skies by afternoon
with highs in the 50s. A great treat
considering the past several days we've
seen below normal temperatures. Sunday,
a disturbance will move overhead with
little fanfare. We'll notice increasing
clouds and perhaps a sprinkle or two.
Monday is rather warm with increasing
sunshine. Highs should manage mid and
upper 50s. Our next decent rain chances
don't arrive until Tuesday and
Wednesday (50% chance). FRIDAY NIGHT:
Mostly cloudy with evening rain
showers. Low: 37 SATURDAY: Increasing
sunshine. High: 52 SATURDAY NIGHT:

We almost avoided any kind of
district tournament postponement today
as we were spared the freezing rain and
snow for the most part.
However, the folks in Pioneer
district have had to make a few
changes.

Both the boys and girls events
are being played at James River high
school and since the semi-final and
finals participants are traveling from
as far away as Monterey in Highland
County.
The girls will now play their
championship tomomrrow at 3pm.
The boys semi-finals will be
tomorrow night at 6 and 8 and the then
the Pioneer dsitrict boys' title game
will be on Sunday afternooon at 4pm.

from today, drenched Atlanta yesterday
causing a pretty imporatn roof to leak
last night.

After about a half hour of
deliberation and trying to get it
stopped, last night Virginia-Georgia
Tech game was called off.
This afternoon the make-up date
was set for Monday night, March 3rd in
Atlanta at 7pm.

terrible six months - first losing
their quarterback Michael Vick to
prison and then their head coach who
abruptly quit.
This afternoon - the Falcons
finally won something.

determine which team will pick third in
the upcoming NFL Draft in April.
The Raiders, Chiefs and Falcons
all had the same sorry 4 and 12 records

Marc Anthony have been doubly blessed.

VO-NAT Her manager says Lopez gave birth to
twins just after midnight this morning
and is "thrilled" to be a mom.
The first to arrive was a girl,
weighing 5 pounds, 7 ounces.
A boy came about 15 minutes later,
weighing 6 pounds even.
These are the first children for the
38-year-old Lopez.
They are the third and fourth for her
husband.
Lopez tells Harper's Bazaar that she
plans to take time off, saying "any
woman can sympathize" that
she's just ready to sit.
