The U-S Embassy in Belgrade came
under attack by angry Serbian rioters,
who refuse to give up the territory.

An angry mob torched the US Embassy in
the capital Belgrade, an eruption of


the fury building since Kosovo
announced its independence Sunday.



They fired flares, smashed down the
iron gates, and burnt the American
flag. A


charred body was found in the
aftermath, thought to be one of the
rioters.



Serb forces that SHOULD have been
protecting the compound were nowhere to
be


seen.

Fearing a violent backlash, the US
embassy had already been closed, and


officials say it will stay that way
through at least Monday.

Concealed guns could soon be
allowed in restaurants.


The measure has now passed the
House and the Senate.


It allows Virginians with
concealed weapons permits to carry
hidden guns into restaurants or clubs,
as long as they don't drink alcohol
while doing so.


Currently guns have to be visible
when carried into restaurants.


Governor Kaine is opposed to the
bill....


However, a spokesman says the
governor hasn't decided if he'll veto
it.


Meanwhile, a bill that would have
given Virginians immunity for killing
intruders in their homes is dead.


Members of a Senate committee say
they don't think the bill is necessary.

budget.

access to pre- K.


It adds nearly 10- thousand four-
year- olds to the state sponsored
program by 2010.


The HOUSE plan spends 13- billion
dollars on education.


Both plans call for 42- million
dollars worth of improvements to the
state's mental health system.


Both also include salary
increases for teachers.


In the coming weeks, a handful of
lawmakers from both houses will work to
resolve differences between the two
plans.

A new study found that hospital
patients who suffer heart attacks at
night or on weekends... are more likely
to die than those whose hearts
short-circuit during the week.


And patients who went into cardiac


arrest after 11 P-M at night faced the
greatest risk.


The authors of the study say the major
reason is probably inadequate staffing.

Obesity is being blamed for a sharp
spike in strokes among American women
aged 35 to 54.


A federal survey found the rate almost
tripled to nearly two percent from


1999 to 2004.


The numbers also show women's
waistlines are almost two inches bigger
than a decade ago.

In a major breakthrough, scientists
implanted human stem cells into mice
and found they were transformed into
normal insulin-producing cells.


The researchers used embryonic stem
cells -- the most powerful but
controversial kind - and the discovery
may pave the way for an approach to

carry guns into restaurants or clubs as
long as they don't drink alcohol while

allowed in restaurants.


The measure has now passed the
House and the Senate.


It allows Virginians with
concealed weapons permits to carry
hidden guns into restaurants or clubs
as long as they don't drink alcohol
while doing so.


Currently guns have to be visible
when carried into restaurants.


Governor Kaine is opposed to the
bill....


However, a spokesman says the
governor hasn't decided if he'll veto
it.


Meanwhile, a bill that would have
given Virginians immunity for killing
intruders in their homes is dead.
