ANCHOR=NATASHA dried up in a House committee today.

The bill would have raised the
tax by one cent per gallon each year
for the next five years.

Each penny increase would raise
an estimated 52- million dollars for
road maintenance.

The bill's sponsor says the

Graham vs. Salem One of those games tonight was in :00 Salem was a nice crowd and coach Glynn
Carlock, Junior filled the Spartans'
gymnasium for some Monday night playoff
hoops.

Salem's turned up the heat in the
first quarter with its pressing,
trapping defense as Fene Turner get the
loose ball and hits ahead to Reggie
Barnette - who gets the easy one in
transition for the home team.

More pressure from Salem - this
time Stephen Barnette will help Turner
with the trap and Barnette will get the
easy one as Salem led 10-to-nothing
right out of the gate.

The G-men would get back in the
game as senior J.D. Hunter hit a
variety of shots including this tough
runner off the right side of the lane. *CG final Graham

47 But Graham just gave up too many Salem easy hoops. Stephen to Reggie as the 67 Barnettes help lead Salem to a 67-to-47
win over Graham.

will get the bucket inside all part of
a 19 to nothing run for Floyd.

But George Wythe had a couple
girls that couldn't be stopped, Ashley
Buckhannon will get the bucket and the
foul inside, she matched her uniform

number with 32 on the night.

She was helped out by Casey Price
who goes with the old school 3-point
play as well. She tallied 26 points
for the game..

But Floyd had the balanced
attack, Lindsey Thompson with the 3 *CG final George Wythe pointer and the Buffalos move on to the 68 Regional semi-Final with a 81 to 68 win Floyd Co. over George Wythe.

Jefferson Forest vs. Northside Jefferson Forest head coach Tom :00 Brown was decked out tonight in the
Cavalier red as his girls rolled up
from Bedford County looking to advance.

Northside's Molly Deacon would
find Abby Thomas all alone on the
perimeter and she will sink the long
two ball as Northside takes a four
point lead.

The Cavs answer right back.
Rachel McKeaque launches a three ball.
It won't go, but Jessie Quarles will
clean up the miss with a rebound and a
bucket for the visitors.

Northside's Rachel Fertitta would
then do her thing for the Vikings as
the six-three forward hits the spinning
jumper. *CG final Jefferson Forest

The Terriers going to work

Samantha Webster who will use the nice
post move to score off the board for 2.

But the Eagles had the lead and
they would add to it as Courtney
Dearing beats the trap throwing a cross
court pass to Allison Huddleston who
spots up for the 3.

William Byrd will respond when
Kelli Kitchens drives down the lane
dishing to a wide open Julie Dyer whos
lays it in for 2 for the Terriers.

But too much Staunton River, off
the in bounds play, Kelly Jackson will
