coming up from the ground led to 7
hours worth of rain delays out in
Calfiornia yesterday for the Sprint Cup
cars. Finally at 1am - late last night
- they postponed the race and decided
to come back today and try again.
At 1pm eastern the drivers were
greeted by a little bit of sunshine,
but not so many fans. Only about 25
thousand of the track's 120 thousand
seats were occupied today.
The race came down to a late
shootout between Jimmie Johnson and
Carl Edwards.
CHANNEL=A VO-NAT
VO-NAT
Edwards came from third and roared to
the front to capture the eighth victory
of his career. The two would trade the
lead with 13 laps to go before Edwards
captured the lead for good. He won
under caution after Dale Jarrett spun
out late.
The Roush Fenway driver
punctuated the win with his traditional
back flip victory celebration. Johnson
was second and Jeff Gordon 3rd.
Junior ended up 40th.
