232 begun their Spring Break early this
morning. After yesterday's lockdown
scare-- police and University officials
aren't taking any chances.

Yesterday Just after the first call came in
at 7:30 am, a cavalry of police -
everyone from sheriff's deputies, to
D-E-A agents and US Marshal's converged
on the campus.
Police worked quickly to alert
the students and staff, move them to a
safe location and then search all 28
buildings on campus.
Even though authorities never
found a gun or gunman, they still
believe this was a credible report.

possible shooting."
The campus was put on lockdown

resident hall reportedly saw a man with
a gun.
The sirens were sounded, and text
warnings were sent.
Authorities spent nearly 10 hours
searching for the man -- but ultimately
came up empty handed.

Fields is already a semi-finalist

Charlottesville community for nearly 10
years, a serial rapist has been
sentenced to a lifetime in jail.

Washington was sentenced yesterday to
four life terms plus 20 years.
Washington is a former meat
cutter and newspaper deliveryman who is
married and a father of four.

man has been charged with attempted
capital murder, following a
confrontation with police in Lexington.
On Monday night, officers were
investigating a complaint of
contributing to the delinquency of a
minor,

Hobson jumped from an apartment window
carrying a rifle.
Police say Hobson dropped the
gun, picked it up, and then turned

Center. Mostly cloudy today with a few
snow showers and a gusty northwest
wind. A strong fetch of cold air and
moisture off the Great Lakes will
create heavy snowfall in the higher
elevations above 3,000 feet in West
Virginia and the Mountains of Virginia.
Amounts over 6 inches may fall
throughout the day Wednesday.
Visibility will also be reduced with
blowing and drifting snow. Skies clear
some late Wednesday with very windy
conditions. Temperatures will also be
considerably colder, with highs only in
the upper 30s. Thursday is sunny and
cool with highs near 40. Late Friday,
we'll increase the chance of showers. A
few may linger into early Saturday
morning. Currently, the first weekend
of March calls for partly sunny skies,
with a few showers early Saturday
