Houston Rockets' all-star center
Yao Ming has a stress fracture in his
left foot, and yesterday team officials
said he is done for the season.
Yao is averaging 22 points and 11
rebounds a game for a Houston team that
had won 12 straight games headed into
last night's contest against the
visiting Washington Wizards.
The Rockets' unbeaten streak had
put the team firmly in the western
conference playoffs with a 36-and-20
record.

off a rare triple play yesterday as

signed the appropriate grant in aid
papers yesterday in the school
auditorium.
Kaylin Foor - the district and
regional high jump specialist will take
her talents to Roanoke College.
She also was All-Regional in the
hurdles.
Aimee Veatch, whose specialities
are the shot put and hammer throw will
be continuing her career as a
student-athlete at Radford University
for the Highlanders.
And Tim Smith, the school;s
distance king and state cross- country
champ is headed to the University of
Richmond.
Smith also won a Roy Stanley
scholarship in 2007.
