(END SOT) (NAT - bush walks up) - "good morning"

President Bush is calling on Congress

to take action - quickly.

He called on lawmakers to find a way to
help homeowners struggling with their

mortgages -- as the economy teeters on
the brink of a recession.

(SOT: President Bush) - "I don't think

we're headed into a recession, but no

question we're in a slowdown."

On Capitol Hill, Fed Chairman Ben
Bernanke said the housing crisis is now

hurting everyone and signaled he is
ready to lower interest rates again.
But

the president says he will veto a
Democratic plan that would allow judges
to

reduce mortgage balances to what the
home is actually worth.. IF it makes it

to his desk

(SOT: President Bush) - "This would be

unfair to the millions of homeowners

who make the hard choices every month
to pay their mortgage on time -- and it

would be unfair to future home
buyers."

(STANDUP BRIDGE: Susan Roberts / CBS
NEWS / THE WHITE HOUSE) - "The
President

wants Congress to spend some money --
to fully fund the war in Iraq. And --

he wants them to renew the domestic
spying bill to help fight the war on

terror."

(SOT: President Bush) - "the law

expired, the threat to america has not

expired."

But, lawmakers are stuck on whether or
not to give legal protection to

companies that wiretapped American
phone and computer lines after
September

11th -- at the government's request.
The Senate version would prevent people

from suing phone carriers... but the
House version does not include that

immunity.

OQ=Hometown Hoops Weekly." < (END SOT) championships playing for his Dad at

Roanoke Catholic, before going on to
Williams College in Massachusetts,
where he made an appearance in the 2004
Division Three Final Four in Salem.

In between, Wall played a a post
graduate year at Fork Union Military
Academy east of Charlottesville, under
Fletcher Arritt who is currently in his
42nd year at the school. Arritt has
influenced more than 400 young people
in those 4 plus decades, and now Wall
is producing a movie documenting his
impact.

PHIL WALL/HOOPSTER TURNED FILM MAKER:

Wall, who lives in Brooklyn, New York
has logged nearly 6 thousand miles
since December traveling between the
Big Apple and Virginia for the film,
funding much of the project on his own.
Titled,"The Passing Game," for Arritt's
motion offense patterned after Dean
Smith's, it's a story about much more
than just basketball.

PHIL:

Wall did a college internship in Los
Angeles, working for a company founded
by Hollywood heavy hitters Matt Damon
and Ben Affleck. He progressed from
answering phones and getting coffee to
reading scripts. His experiences in
California solidified his desire to
make a movie.

PHIL:

The movie will include appearances from
several big time college coaches, who
have come into contact with Arritt,
including North Carolina's Roy
Williams.

PHIL:

TRAVIS: Wall hopes to be finished
shooting early this summer, and have a
rough cut of the film done in August,
before taking it on the film festival
circuit next spring. Travis Wells,
