speed chase on Route 220 yesterday and
came out firing - is dead.

Friday Police say Micah Sword died
around 10 this morning.

The 24-year-old had been in the
hospital with serious injuries since
the shootout.

A police officer from Roanoke
County tried to pull him over for

speeding around one o'clock Friday
morning.

That's when the chase was on -
but eventually, Sword got out of his
car and fired at least two dozen shots
at police officers from Franklin and
Roanoke Counties.

All of the officers survived.

The gunman was from Roanoke
County.

three people scrambling this morning.

Danville home around three AM.

The house was on Noel Avenue.

Two adults and child managed to

A state study shows poor children
who participate in the program pass the

less children will repeat grades.

The store's president says while

to a Kentucky hospital - bruised,
beaten and DRUNK.

morning when two homemade planes
crashed at an airpark in Florida.

Orlando.

According to officials, one of
the planes was attempting to land when
it slammed into another plane on the
ground.

Two people inside that plane on
the ground were killed.

The other plane landed belly-up
about 100 yards away on a grassy
median.

Both people in this plane were
severely burned.

Average highs are about 10 degrees
warmer in March, hitting around 60
degrees, except Blacksburg which is a
little cooler in the lower 50s.
Blacksburg's average low is also cooler
near 30, with mid 30s in Roanoke,
Lynchburg and Danville.

to return to the title tilt with a win
over top seeded Guilford.

The Maroons push it up to start
the 2nd half. A-J Dowell didn't want

the Quakers. The league's player of
the year cleans up the boards for two
and Guilford started to get some
breathing room.

Josh Laporte then hit Curtis

(END SOT) Valley's new baseball and softball

facility was reduced to to a glorified
pile of kindling before they could even
put the roof on it.

But now exactly five months later
the 54 hundred square foot facility is
open for business.

Stillwell spearheaded the the
lofty effort to build the facility
without a penny of taxpayer's money.
Businesses and inviduals kicked money,
manpower and materials to make the
project a reality in time for the
current softball and baseball seasons.

But even with the building,
nothing would have been possible
without Steve Helgeson.

The former owner of the Hitting
Zone donated all of the nets, pitching
machines, pitching mounds and the
astroturf - equipment valued at more
than $50 thousand dollars.

Helgeson not only got to see his
equipment put to good use, but his
oldest son Zach - a University of
Maryland bound senior at Hidden Valley
- is in this week's Sports Illustrated
in the Face in the Crowd section.
