been very different today in Abingdon
than it was several months ago in
Montgomery County.
Most of the potenial jurors did
NOT know William Morva, the victims -
Eric Sutphin and Derrick McFarland or
their family or friends.
Remember the reason Judge Ray
Grubbs moved the trial - too many
people in Montgomery Couty had close
ties to the case.
Also Morva's appearance was the
talk of court today.
He has long hair and a full

Morva appeared relaxed and was

(END SOT) years.
But he's wondering how a proposed
rock quarry might change his way of
life.
Jesee Keesee "My problem would be
the blasting. It actually jars and
cracks houses."
Boxley Aggregates wants to build
a new quarry between Keesee's property
and Route 24.
Keesee's family owns an auto
repair shop near the site and they're
worried the dust from a quarry could
put them out of business.
"It's practically impossible to
paint with dust coming all the time."
Boxley says a quarry wouldn't
affect the neighborhood.
They plan to build buffers around
the site to control noise and runoff.
And they're sending out fact
sheets like this to inform neighbors
about the project.
Jack McCarthy:"We're taking the
extra step to be a good neighbor and
try to help with the concerns."
Boxley already owns a quarry in
Campbell County on Lawyer's Road, but
they've pulled out nearly all the rock
they can from this site. And that's
why they want to move the quarry to
Evington.
"That site offers a great deposit
of rock that will be there for years
and years and years."
Residents like Keesee aren't
convinced a new quarry is even
necessary.
"They could aquire the property
where they're at and stay there a
number of years."
But Boxley says it's just a
matter of time before the rock runs out
on Lawyers Road - enough time, they
hope, to move their operation to
Evington.

<< Good evening, I'm meteorologist
Robin Reed along with meteorologist
Brent Watts in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. A strong, dynamic low
pressure system and trailing cold front
is on its way into the Ohio Valley.
Along with the clash of air masses
comes the threat of severe weather
across southwest Virginia. Winds have
already become gusty this afternoon
ahead of a line of storms coming in
from the Tennessee Valley. This
morning's rain did little to stabilize
the atmosphere. The latest weather
balloon data shows winds coming in at
different directions which means storms
that do develop have the potential to
produce damaging straight-line winds,
and perhaps an isolated tornado. TIME:
Greatest severe threat from 4pm through
around 11pm. This would put strong
storms in here during the
afternoon/evening commute and even
after sunset. Use extreme caution after
dark. Keep television/radio/or NOAA
weather radio on this evening for
updates. WHAT COULD WE SEE? Line of
heavy, tropical-like downpours (1.00"+
in heavier downpours) Isolated Flash
flooding Straight line winds
(damaging winds) Hail Tornado
threat low, but certainly possible.
The front pulls away Wednesday with
gusty winds and increasing sunshine.
Highs should top out near 60. Thursday
is a repeat, but more scattered showers
are possible Friday as cooler weather
comes in for the weekend. TUESDAY
