move across the area later this
afternoon and evening, bringing
abundant moisture and even
thunderstorms. As cold air get wrapped
into the storm aloft, the threat of
severe weather increases. Here's the
breakdown of what we might expect:
Heavy, tropical-like downpours (.50 to
1.00" average amount), Flash flooding,
Straight line winds (damaging winds),
Hail. SEVERE WEATHER TIMING: Late
afternoon (4pm) through late evening

threat. This would put severe weather
in here during and after sunset. Severe
threat will be reduced if low
strengthens along the Gulf Coast

band director was just one of many
people indicted by a BOTETOURTt County
grand jury....

murder of Steven Carter on Thanksgiving
morning.
A two-day jury trial is set for

The General Assembly has approved
legislation that will toughen
Virginia's cockfighting and dogfighting
laws. The Senate unanimously
passed the measure and sent it to
Governor Tim Kaine's desk.
Kaine is a supporter of the
legislation.
Legislators were eager to crack
down on animal cruelty after the
high-profile Michael Vick case.
The suspended NFL star is serving
a 23-month prison term for a federal
dogfighting conspiracy.
The bill makes it easier to
investigate and prosecute dogfighting
cases and makes it a felony to give
animals any substance to enhance their
ability to fight.
It also increases cockfighting
from a misdemeanor to a felony.

in Lynchburg is doing the grading.

The information they've collected
is part of a national project.

don't know why a man from Roanoke died
in police custody, or why he attacked a
hotel manager there.

VO NAT 37-year-old James Howard Jones,
Junior was arrested Sunday night, after
police say he attacked a motel manager
with a knife.
Police report Jones tried to kick
out the windows of the cruiser and was
put in leg restraints.
Minutes later, an officer
discovered he wasn't breathing.
Officers started C-P-R, but
Jones died at a Fredericksburg
Hospital.
An autopsy is expected be
performed today.

<< Good morning, I'm meteorologist Leo
Hirsbrunner in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. A front and low pressure will
move across the area later this
afternoon and evening, bringing
abundant moisture and even
thunderstorms. As cold air get wrapped
into the storm aloft, the threat of
severe weather increases. Here's the
breakdown of what we might expect:
Heavy, tropical-like downpours (.50 to
1.00" average amount), Flash flooding,
Straight line winds (damaging winds),
Hail. SEVERE WEATHER TIMING: Late
afternoon (4pm) through late evening
(11pm) would be the greatest severe
threat. This would put severe weather
in here during and after sunset. Severe
threat will be reduced if low
strengthens along the Gulf Coast
states. This scenario would steal some
of our storms keep much of the severe
threat south of us. With that said, the
latest models indicate severe weather
