still was a good day for Hillary
Clinton.

Clinton won primaries yesterday in
Ohio,

Texas, and Rhode Island.

But those primary wins don't
NECESSARILY translate into delegate
votes.

It's more clear cut on the G-O-P
side... Senator John McCain now has

enough delegates to win the Republican
presidential nomination .

WE'RE GOING STRONG, AND WE'RE GOING

Primary wins in showdown states Ohio
and Texas may have broken Barack
Obama's

momentum, but it remains to be seen if
Hillary Clinton can overcome the math.

She's put a dent in his delegate
lead...but since the votes were close
and the

delegates are awarded proportionally,
last night's results don't turn this

race upside down.

As if to underscore this point, Obama
turned his speech away from his rival

to draw a contrast with John McCain.

GEORGE BUSH HAS TAKEN OUR COUNTRY AND

HE PROMISES TO KEEP US ON THE VERY
SAME COURSE."

Still - momentum is important and
Clinton's big night should help stop

some of

the powerful super-delegates from
jumping ship. But more than anything -
the

swing suggests Democrats aren't yet
ready to anoint anyone.

The democratic tug-of-war looks
destined to go to the distance, but
John

McCain's already hit his magic number.

The Arizona senator's clean sweep puts
him over the top in delegates and he

blanketed areas from the East Coast to
the Mississippi Valley.

capital murder case in Abingdon is
likely to be all jury selection.

:00 Yesterday 13 potential jurors
were selected.

They need 24.

Then the prosecution and defense
will cut 5 people each.

Most potential jurors did NOT
know Morva, the victims or their family
and friends.

Out of a pool of more than 60
people in Washington County - only one
person had a link to the case.

Most of those excused from jury
duty had stong opinions either for or
against the death penalty.

Morva is accused of escaping
police custody and killing a security
officer and deputy in August 2006.

The case was moved to Abingdon,
because so many people in Montgomery
County had first hand knowledge of the
case.

Judge Keith Blankenship was the
Commonwealth's Attorney in Wythe County
until he was named to the bench three

arrested Blankenship and charged him
with D-U-I and failing to take a breath
test.

bill that would have allowed Virginians
with concealed carry permits to carry
their guns into restaurants and clubs.

alcohol is a public safety issue.

Virginians are currently allowed
to carry a gun into a restaurant
openly... that is in plain view... on

their hip.

Concealed guns aren't allowed.

Kaine also vetoed a second bill

a concealed carry permit to lock up
their gun in the glovebox of their
vehicle.

Law enforcement officials were
opposed to both bills.

express their religious viewpoints.

makers jacked up prices last year to

rate of inflation.

The AARP says it affects medicines

for William Morva's capital murder case
in Abingdon.

Most potential jurors did NOT
know Morva, the victims or their family

Out of a pool of more than 60
people in Washington County - only one
person had a link to the case.

Most of those excused from jury
duty had stong opinions either for or
against the death penalty.

Morva is accused of escaping
police custody and killing a security
officer and deputy in August 2006.

The case was moved to Abingdon
because so many people in Montgomery
County had first hand knowledge of the
case.

on police last week.

Force for six years.

He completed two combat tours in

Iraq.

The 24-year-old worked at the
Post Office in Salem on West Main
Street.

According to an obituary
published by the Roanoke Times, he

fire on police last week.

Micah Sword served in the U- S Air

Force, and worked at the West Main
Street post office in Salem.

Sword died after a gun battle with
police on Route 220 last Friday.

during a scuffle with the robbers.

for the next 13 years for second-degree
murder.

yesterday morning to killing Keith Leon
Lewis last September.

Salters shot him near 5th Street
and Gilmer Avenue.

As part of a plea deal, Salters
was sentenced to 10 years for murder
and three years on a gun charge.
