grateful that none of the officers was
physicially injured, and said they hope

leader.


Parks Snead is now the acting
police chief for the city of Lynchburg.


Snead has been commander of the
city's field operations bureau since
1997.


He's taking over for Charles
Bennett, who's stepping down for
retirement next week.


City officials are conducting a
nationwide search for Bennett's
permanent replacement.


Snead will take over as acting
chief March 10th.

Southern Conference player of the year.


The six- three sophomore guard is
averaging 25 points a game this season
for the Davidson Wildcats.


He is in the top 10 in a number
of national statistics - fifth in
scoring, 8th in free- throw percentage
and third in three- pointers made.


Last year he was the league's
freshman of the year and Tournament
