tackle differences over major ticket
items like expanding state sponsored
preschool.

Legislators approved legislation
that replaces the words in law books
with the words "intellectually
disabled".
Advocates say the word "retarded"
hurts the self esteem of those with

It's estimated the change would

The legislature must pass the
bill again next year before it will be
sent to Governor Kaine for
consideration.

News 7 this weekend that the plaintiffs
in this case filed paper work late
yesterday for a quote "NONSUIT" which
essentially means the case has been
withdrawn.
The plaintiffs- which are a group
of citizens from Lynchburg -first went
to court last fall to stop the college
from selling four prized paintings.

workers have been allowing billions of
gallons of water into the Colorado
River -- which flows through the
canyon.
The project is designed to mimic
natural floods that once occurred in

feet in the Grand Canyon, but are

Center. Slow clearing is expected
overnight with cold temperatures in the
20s. Wind chill values in the single
digits are likely by early Sunday
morning thanks to a busy west wind.
Overall, winds will begin to diminish
after midnight as low pressure races
toward southeastern Canada.
Sunday will be sunny and pleasant with
high pressure building in from the
Tennessee River Valley. Highs will be
below average for this time of year -
around 50 degrees.
A quick clipper heads out of the
Central Plains Monday, possibly
bringing a few snow showers to the
Highlands, but just partly sunny skies
for the rest of the NEWS7 viewing area.
Highs are forecast in the low and mid
50s.
Most of next week (Monday through
Thursday) is expected to be mostly to
partly sunny. Midweek temperatures warm
to around 60. Our next chance of rain
comes Friday, with a southern batch of
moisture trying to head in our
direction. Right now, those showers
look to exit by Saturday.

girls were trying to do the same as
they took on once beaten Brookville.

big guns Abby Redick was out of the
Hidden Valley lineup with a sprained
ankle and there wasn't nearly as much
at stake.
Tonight, Redick made herself
right at home from the start as she
scored the first bucket of the game and
finished with 10 points - one of three
Titans in double figures.
The other key tonight for Hidden
Valley was its defense. Abby Oliver
gets the steal and goes coast to coast
for the hoop and the harm. Oliver
finished with a game high 19 points as
Hidden Valley jumped out to a
13-to-nothing lead.
The Titans had that double digit
lead for almost the entire game, but
Joyous Tharington helped slice it down
to nine in the fourth. She led the
Bees with 13.

Wrestling Tournament wrapped up in
Salem.
The Christiansburg Blue Demons
got their 7th straight state title. Sam
Rakes won a second straight State Title
helping the cause.
At the Single "A" level Manass
Park de-throned Glenvar, but the
Highlanders did have some highlights.
Jeremy Mowles won a second straight
championship.
And his teammate Ben Cundiff beat
Rural Retreat's David Harrison coming
from behind in the 1-hundred and forty
five pound weight class to claim the
belts.
Rural Retreat Senior Wyatt
Pickett though did bring home the title
for the Indians winning in the
1-hundred and fifty-two pound weight
