Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. A light southwest wind as
developed, bringing highs Monday into
the upper 50s. A very weak frontal
passage will bring increasing
cloudiness and an isolated shower
chance overnight. High pressure will
built east once again and remain with
us through Thursday, providing sunshine
and warmer than average highs.
Afternoon temperatures should climb to
near 60 degrees though the end of the
week. Our next rain maker enters from
the south Friday, bringing a 60% chance
of showers. A few may linger into
Saturday, with highs remaining in the
60s. The heaviest rain with this system
will likely stay through the eastern
Carolinas and Georgia. Skies will
clear once again Sunday with afternoon
sun and highs in the upper 50s. Look
for a temperatures cool down a bit more

basketball fans in the area live for -
ACC Tournament week.
Starting on Wednesday when the
teams arrive in Charlotte for a
practice day at Bobcats Arena there
will be non-stop activities in the
queen city.
The conference also is once again
honoring a group of legends - one from
each school.
And this year - Virginia Tech's
representative lives right here in
Roanoke - former Hokie Glen Combs.

(END SOT) Glen Combs was nicknamed the "Kentucky
Rifle" for his long range shooting
ability and in the mid-60s he was
largely responsible for leading the
Hokies to their first post-season
tournaments. In fact, he still owns
the Tech record for most points scored
in an NCAA tourney game with 29.
Combs played on some rock solid teams
in 1966, 1967 and 1968 alongside the
likes of Ted Ware, Wayne Mallard and
Ron "Spider" Perry. Tech made the NIT
in 1966 and in 1967 were just an
overtime loss away from the NCAA final
four.
In 1968 Combs averaged 21 points a
game.
Combs was a fifth round NBA pick in
1968, but opted for the ABA where he
played seven seasons and scored 7,666
points and appeared in three All-Star
Games helping the Utah Stars to win the
1971 ABA title.

soldout brunch on Saturday.
That same day they will be
recognized at halftime of the first
semi-final game.
And Combs will be in some mighty
fast company.
Other legends this year include
Dean Smith, Lefty Driesell, Len
Chappell, Charlie Ward and UVA's
representative - former guard John
Crotty.

afternoon and although Tech got a first
round bye, the Hokies loss to Clemson
yesterday put them on the rought side
of the bracket. They'll have to play
either Miami or N.C. State in their
first game and if they win that they
will likely face top seeded North
Carolina.

Instead the former Cave Spring star has
been with his younger brother David
today in Durham.

2006 David Redick, who is now 20, had
surgery today to remove a cancerous
tumor from his spine at the Duke
University Medical Center. J.J. told
the Orlando Sentinel that David felt
some numbness in one of his calves and
thought he had a herniated disc, but
after undergoing some tests doctors
found the tumor.

century is breaking new ground.

The State and City Building is
the first project in southwest Virginia
to receive LEED certification, for its
energy efficiency and environmental
design.
At 107- years- old, it's also one
of the first LEED projects in the state
involving historic renovation.
You wouldn't know it from
visiting the spacious condo on the
third floor, but the project includes
many elements that will save water
,energy and money over time.
Planners hope it will also be a
model for other construction to come.
