in orbit.

The crew of seven lifted off early
this morning in a rare night launch .

They're going to add more pieces to
the International Space Station.

Drew Levinson is at the Kennedy
Space Center this morning, and says
this is truly a U- N mission.

The Space Shuttle Endeavor lit up the
cool, dark, Florida sky this morning.

Its seven astronauts are on one of the
space agency's longest missions....16

days.

"THEY'LL JOIN UP WITH THE INTERNATIONAL
SPACE STATION MAKING IT EVEN MORE

INTERNATIONAL. FOR THE FIRST TIME
THERE WILL BE ASTRONAUTS FROM THE
UNITED

STATES, EUROPE, CANADA, RUSSIA AND
JAPAN IN ORBIT AT THE SAME TIME."

And they have a big job ahead of
them...space walkers will add the first
of

three parts of a Japanese research
laboratory called Kibo to the space

station.

Kibo means HOPE and the Japanese have
been HOPING for this since the lab's

inception back in the '80s

Their space program manager said "Our
Japanese people have been waiting for

this for a long time"

The shuttle is also hauling a giant
two-armed Canadian Robot named Dextre,

designed to maintain the outside of the
space station.

Putting all this together will take
five spacewalks and added suspense
because

there are a lot of rookies up there.

William Morva's capital murder trial.

this morning.

Closing arguments wrapped up
yesterday.

Montgomery County Commonwealth's
Attorney Brad Finch told the jury to
use their common sense, and asked them
for guilty verdicts on all seven
charges.

Finch called the evidence
overwhelming.

Defense attorney Tony Anderson
said the jury should find Morva guilty
of second degree murder instead of
capital murder.

Anderson said a guilty capital
murder verdict would require three
elements.

It must be willful, deliberate
and pre-meditated.

Anderson said the prosecution did
not prove premeditation.

After the jury reaches a verdict,
Morva's case will go straight to the
penalty phase, and more witnesses are
expected to be called for that portion.

worked out their differences on the
state's two- year, 78- billion dollar
budget.

Six senators and six delegates
yesterday resolved disagreements over
major issues, like teacher pay raises.

They also worked out a provision
that ties state college funding to
incentives to hold down tuition.

The General Assembly session was
supposed to end on Saturday, but was
extended until midnight today to give
negotiators more time...

Smaller budget disagreements
remain, but an easy resolution is

expected.

problems on Interstate 81.

It happened around seven o'clock
last night on the northbound side, near
mile marker 135 in Salem.

State Police say a driver had a
diabetic attack, weaved in and out of
traffic at speeds of nearly 100 miles a
hour, and then crashed into the back of
a tractor trailer.

Firefighters had to use the jaws
of life to get the victim out.

No word on his condition.

to sell four paintings from the
school's Maier Mayer Museum of Art.

A group called "Preserve
Educational Choice" has been blocking
that sale with a lawsuit, but the group
has now filed a "non-suit."

That means their claim has been
withdrawn, but it *can* be brought back
if the school decides to sell the
paintings in the next six months.

And the number of rabies cases
here in Virginia is the highest in
nearly 25 years......

of Health received 730 cases of rabies.

The best way to prevent rabies
cases is to make sure your animals are
properly vaccinated.

A law was enacted back in July
requiring all veterinarians in Virginia
to report every dog that receives a
rabies vaccination.

Eight months later, we take a
look at what the law has accomplished
and if veterinarians who were upset
have changed their minds.

And they have a big job ahead of
them...space walkers will add the first

three parts of a Japanese research
laboratory called Kibo to the space

station.

Kibo means HOPE and the Japanese have
been HOPING for this since the lab's

inception back in the '80s

Their space program manager said "Our
Japanese people have been waiting for

this for a long time"

The shuttle is also hauling a giant
two-armed Canadian Robot named Dextre,

designed to maintain the outside of the

five spacewalks and added suspense

there are a lot of rookies up there.

court yesterday.

Montgomery County Commonwealth's
Attorney Brad Finch told the jury to
use their common sense and asked them
for guilty verdicts on all seven
charges.

Finch called the evidence
overwhelming.

Defense attorney Tony Anderson
said the jury should find Morva guilty
of second degree murder instead of
capital murder.

Anderson said a guilty capital
murder verdict would require three
elements.

It must be willful, deliberate
and premeditated.

Anderson said prosecution did not
prove premeditation.

After the jury reaches a verdict,
Morva's case will go straight to the
penalty phase, and more witnesses are
expected to be called for that portion.

budget.

Morva.

The Montgomery County
Commonwealth's Attorney asked the jury
for guilty verdicts on all seven
charges.

But the defense argued jurors
