over the weekend.

The sordid tale of Eliot's Spitzer's
fall has a new player.
The New York Times has identified the
high-priced call girl known only as
"Kristen" in court papers as 22-year
old Ashley Alexandra Dupre.
The self-described aspiring singer
didn't offer many details about her
alleged
encounter with Spitzer ... only
telling the paper --QUOTE-- "I JUST
DON'T
WANT TO BE THOUGHT OF AS A MONSTER."

Even in resigning, the disgraced New
York governor didn't have much to say.
His two short public statements -
Monday's admission of wrong-doing and
yesterday's resignation - have been
non-specific. But new details of his
alleged crimes are emerging.

Prosecutors are reportedly focused on
the way Spitzer tried to hide his
payments. They believe he structured
wire transfers to avoid detection and
even tried to have the bank take his
name off the transaction.
The bank alerted the I-R-S and the
I-R-S started following the money.
When
they saw Spitzer was involved, they
called the F-B-I.

The infamous rendevous in room 871 at
the Mayflower hotel doesn't appear to
be
Spitzer's first. Law enforcement
officials say the governor had hired
prostitutes several times before,
spending perhaps as much as
80-thousand-dollars.

Monday. He has already hired a high
priced legal team to help cut a deal
with federal prosecutors ... but so far

Conference basketball tournament kicks
off today in Charlotte.

say was involved with the death of
Omarion Rose.
He's the Amherst County toddler
killed by a hit-and-run driver back in
January.

reckless driving.
Investigators say Silby is the
driver who hit Rose.
Commonwealth's Attorney Stephanie
Maddox tells News 7 that a reckless
driving count is the only offense that
can "factually and ethically be charged

Maddox says her office has
conducted extensive research, including
interviews with witnesses and family
members of the little boy, which led to
the charge.

Gunmen have taken over a
simulated "Lynchburg High School."
Swat teams with heavy armor move
in.
It's just a drill, but it's made
to seem just like the real thing.
Right down to a fake explosion.

Christen Feucht: "It kind of
scared you. I mean, they told us in
advance, but it still scared you."

Students from Liberty University
played the role of wounded hostages,
giving rescue workers a chance to
practice treating a scene of mass
injuries.
Christen Feucht: "We got made up
and painted and everything to represent
those who were injured by the
explosions and by gunfire."
"If this were a real hostage
situation, reporters like myself
wouldn't be allowed to get this close.
But police are letting us stand nearby
so that we can show you how they'd
handle a situation like this."
Police are watching too -
learning more about what they're doing
right and what needs to improve.
Captain Howard Gregory: "We've
all learned a lot about coordinating,
working together, learning the
capabilities of the other agencies and
how we can best interact."
Officers hope a situation like
this never happens in Lynchburg, but if
it does, they now know how to respond.

pushing a warm front our way during the
afternoon. Clouds will increase a bit
ahead of the front, but no rain is
expected. Temperatures will climb close
to 70 under partly to mostly sunny
skies. Winds will also increase to
around 20mph. Friday, southerly
moisture will combine with a weak cold
front coming in from the west. As the
front passes south it will stall in
North Carolina, bringing scattered rain
showers (40%) Friday. Take an umbrella
if you're headed out Saturday. Showers
are likely off and on (60%) with
temperatures cooling into the upper
50s. With several waves of disturbances
coming through, a lingering shower or
two can't be ruled out Sunday as well,
with highs near 50. Generally, the
weekend looks cloudy, cooler and
showery. The start of next week is
quiet as sunshine returns along with
average highs in the upper 50s.Looks

Yesterday, police arrested
21-year-old Demario James Atwater of
Durham.
They say surveillance photos show
both suspects trying to use Carson's
ATM card.
She was found last Wednesday
lying on a street about a mile from
campus.
She'd been shot several times.

faces two first-degree murder counts.
