today--local police, fire and veterans
were saluted for their service to their

Wednesday Union workers are voting today at
the New River Community College on the
latest contract offer from the company.

Nearly 26-hundred workers have
been on strike since early February.

supporters this afternoon in Gainsboro.

Her announcement was planned near
the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge, but
moved into the Gainsboro Parking Garage
because of the rain.

Powell said the city's
neighborhoods and its schools are among
her top priorities.

we've been seeing lately, workers at
Riverside Nursery stress... choosing
the right plant and placing them in the
right spot is key.

No matter what type of plant you
have, you want to start off with good

the Atlanta area, slowing the clean up
from the E-F-two tornado that blasted
the downtown area Friday night.

The twister brought winds up to

130 miles per hour and injured some 30
people.

Authorities in Polk County,
Georgia, north of Atlanta, say someone
was killed in one of the storms today.

A TORNADO PACKING WINDS OF UP TO
ONE-HUNDRED THIRTY MILES RIPPED INTO A

FOUR-STORY APARTMENT BUILDING.

THE STRUCTURE, IN ATLANTA'S HISTORIC
CABBAGETOWN NEIGHBORHOOD JUST EAST OF

DOWNTOWN...COLLAPSED "PANCAKE STYLE"
FRIDAY NIGHT.

AMAZINGLY, THERE WERE NO REPORTED
FATALITIES.

Our major concern over the night was
the collapse of the Fulton Cotton Mills

Loft. Our primary search of the lofts
have revealed at this point that there

were no apparent occupants or
fatalities

THE TWISTER HIT AT A PARTICULARLY BAD
TIME, DOWNTOWN ATLANTA WAS FULL OF
SPORTS

FANS WATCHING PROFESSIONAL AND COLLEGE
BASKETBALL GAMES.

SEVERAL AREA LANDMARKS, INCLUDING C-N-N
CENTER AND THE GEORGIA DOME SUSTAINED

SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE.

OFFICIALS SAY TWENTY HOMES IN THE
CABBAGETOWN AREA WERE DESTROYED.

SOME HOMEOWNERS ARE COUNTING THEIR
BLESSINGS.

We're so fortunate because there's
people here with trees right down the
middle

of their house and crushing their
houses and their cars and I think the
man who

lives behind us had to go to the
hospital.

The church paid 25 cents of every
gallon.

snatching caught on video...

Police say a man tried to steal a
woman's purse, but when she wouldn't
let go he knocked her down.

When the woman still wouldn't
give in - he took her right along.

After even a knife didn't wasn't
enough to make the woman quit, the
thief took off.

Denver P-D are still looking for
him.

foreclosure crisis.

NO SUPER! mistake on her taxes two years ago
caused the singers 700-thousand dollar
Detroit mansion to slip into
foreclosure.

Franklin claims she owes about
445 dollars, but the Detroit Newspaper
has done some digging and reports she
owes more like 19 thousand dollars.

She has until the end of the
month to pay up.
