Center. High pressure anchored over
the Great Lakes is moving east
producing mild southwest winds. This
will mean another comfortable day
Tuesday with afternoon highs nearing
60. Moisture will begin to increase
during the day. While it will be dry
Tuesday, clouds will thicken during the
afternoon and into Tuesday night as a
low pressure system prepares to move
north out of the Gulf of Mexico and
into the Great Lakes. By late Tuesday
night, a few of the clouds may be full
enough to produce some light showers in
the mountains. However, the best chance
of regional showers won't arrive until
lunchtime Wednesday. We could even have
some stronger storms with gusty winds
as the low pushes a cold front through.
Showers will taper off by Wednesday
evening. Behind the front, a steep
pressure rise will produce gusty winds
for everyone Wednesday night. Right
now, Thursday though Sunday call for

Lieutenant Governor David
Paterson was sworn in this afternoon as
the state's 55th governor.
Paterson is the state's first
black governor, and is also legally
blind.
He was greeted by lawmakers at
the state Capitol with a two-minute
standing ovation.
Patterson is vowing to move past
the prostitution scandal that ousted
Eliot Spitzer from office and says that
he'll get right to work on the state
budget and other matters.

After a woman won this 20 pound
lobster, named Goliath, in a raffle,
she knew just what to do with it.
Instead of throwing it on the
stove and cooking a big feast, she made
a big donation to the New England
Aquarium.
In June, a federal law goes into
effect protecting all lobsters that
weigh more than five pounds.

Fitzgerald dropped by the Roanoke
Valley Sports Club.

Fitzgerald, who played at E.C.
Glass, later starred for the Hokies,
and may have had a lengthy NFL career
had it not been for a nasty career
ending knee injury, is an entrepreneur
turned philanthropist who lives in the
Atlanta area.

days helping underprivileged kids, but
he also spent some time in Iraq as part
of NFL alumni group early in the war.
He was inducted into the Tech
sports hall of fame in 2002.
