The Fed's banking on ANOTHER rate cut
to put the economy back on track.
They're fighting a number of battles
at the same time: a housing collapse, a
credit meltdown, and Wall Street
turmoil that threatens the country's
entire
financial system.
The central bank's trying to spark
spending....but previous rate cuts
haven't
done much to boost retail sales or
restore consumer confidence.
And tax rebate checks may be nothing
but a quick fix. A new Gallup poll
finds more than 3 in 4 Americans think
the country's sunk into recession.
So just days after urging restraint--

last Friday): "IT'S IMPORTANT NOT TO
OVER-CORRECT. WHEN YOU OVER-CORRECT,

<< Good morning, I'm meteorologist Leo

Center. High pressure anchored over
the Great Lakes is moving east
producing mild southwest winds. This
will mean another comfortable day
Tuesday with afternoon highs in the
upper 50s. Moisture will begin to
increase during the day. While it will
be dry Tuesday, clouds will thicken
during the afternoon and into Tuesday
night as a low pressure system prepares
to move north out of the Gulf of Mexico
and into the Great Lakes. By late
Tuesday night, a few of the clouds may
be full enough to produce some light
showers in the mountains. However, the
best chance of regional showers won't
arrive until lunchtime Wednesday. We
could even have some stronger storms
with gusty winds as the low pushes a
cold front through. Showers will taper
off by Wednesday evening. Behind the
front, a steep pressure rise will
produce gusty winds for everyone
Wednesday night. Right now, Thursday
though Sunday call for fair skies and
highs around 60. TUESDAY: Increasing
clouds. Comfortable. High: 57 TUESDAY

Lynchburg General Hospital 150-thousand
dollars.
The money will help pay for a new
project to expand the use of health
records for heart patients.
The program gives doctors more
information about treatment options.
Governor Kaine says it's a great
way for the hospital to measure success
and figure out what's working in the
operating room.

were killed in a plane crash over the
weekend in Smyth County.
The pilot, Aditya (Audit-Yah) Roy
Sanwalk, and his passenger, Margaret

Mountain Empire Airport in Marion.

Early estimates say the damage
could cost between 150-to-200 million

to put the economy back on track.
They're fighting a number of battles
at the same time: a housing collapse, a
credit meltdown, and Wall Street
turmoil that threatens the country's

The central bank's trying to spark
spending....but previous rate cuts
haven't
done much to boost retail sales or
restore consumer confidence.
And tax rebate checks may be nothing
but a quick fix. A new Gallup poll
finds more than 3 in 4 Americans think
the country's sunk into recession.
So just days after urging restraint--
