(END SOT) Hillary Clinton has a new reason to

believe her message just may be
sticking.

(NAT) - CLINTON EVENT

According to a new Gallup poll, the New
York Senator has moved ahead of Barack

Obama among Democratic voters.

(GRAPHIC IN)

The poll gave Clinton a 49 to 42
percent lead over Obama.. her first

significant lead in this poll -- in
over a month.

(GRAPHIC OUT)

(NAT - applause)

On the campaign trial in Charleston,
West Virginia , Senator Obama needs no

reminders of how close the race is. He
leads in states and delegates, but not

by much. This week his campaign had to
tackle the racially charged comments of

his former pastor, but Thursday the

illinois senator was back on point,

taking aim again at the war in iraq.

(SOT: BARACK OBAMA / D - PRESIDENTIAL

CANDIDATE) - "THIS WAR WILL BE BROUGHT

TO AN END DURING MY FIRST TERM AS
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF
AMERICA."

(STANDUP: SUSAN ROBERTS / CBS NEWS /
THE WHITE HOUSE) - "Senator Obama's
visit

to West Virginia comes one day after
Senator Clinton's visit. The democratic

race stands at a virtual dead heat. And
both Senators know at this point,

every state matters."

On the republican side, Senator John
McCain is taking his campaign overseas.

He met with British Prime Minister
Gordon Brown to discuss major world
issues

-- including Iraq. Unlike his
democratic opponents who vow a quick
withdrawal

if elected, McCain says pulling out
before the job is done would only help

Iran and al-Qaeda.

GRAPHIC=GLOBETROTTERS There is basketball tonight at

the Roanoke Civic Center as well. The
Harlem Globetrotters are in town.

They will be taking on the
Washington Generals. Trust me even
though our own Grant Kittelson is
playing with the Generals this evening,
put your money on the Globetrotters.

Even with all the other options
the Globetrotters still resonate with
all generations.

:00 The Heroes Breakfast is an annual
fundraiser for the Montgomery-Floyd
Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Virginia Tech President Charles
Steger was the keynote speaker.

He said the New River Valley
community sustained the university
on-and-after April 16-th.

He also explained how countless
heroes emerged when they responded to
the tragedy and others in the past
year.

Several individuals were given
awards, and each law enforcement agency
and rescue squad was honored too.
