GRAPHIC=VIRGINIA TECH Officials at Virginia Tech aren't
sparing any expense when it comes to
campus safety.
Virginia Tech President Charles
Steger says the university has spent
more than $10 million dollars to
increase security since the April 16th
shootings.

Tech officials have made several
changes, including adding staff to help
distressed students, creating an
emergency e-mail alert system,
establishing a threat assessment team,
and installing locks on classroom
doors.
Upgrading the campus police
communication system is also in the
works.

GRAPHIC= COVINGTON FIRE After investigating a fire at a
car dealership in Covington, officials
do NOT think the fire was arson.

Firefighters responded to the
Covington Motor Company Tuesday night
just after six o'clock.
It took companies from across the
county to get the fire under control.
Workers say it's unclear on what
will happen next with the business.
But, they're grateful for the
support from the community.

damaged.
Investigators believe the fire
started on the second floor.
The cause could be electrical.

in Old Southwest Roanoke are still
working to find leads on the cause of
that fire.

Two weeks have passed since two
buildings went up in flames on
Albemarle Avenue, displacing a number
of businesses and residents.
One of those people was Krista
Mobley.
She lost pretty much everything
in the fire.
Since that time, she and her
three kids have been living in a motel
but are confident they'll soon be back
on their feet.

Center. High pressure builds in today
with increasing sunshine but we will
keep a gusty west wind around through
the afternoon. THURSDAY: Sunny and
breezy. Winds will relax by the end of
the day, but most of Thursday will be
highlighted by northwesterly winds at
15-25mph with gusts near 40mph.
Afternoon highs are forecast in the mid
50s. Thursday night will be clear and
chilly with lows in the lower 30s.
FRIDAY: The first full day of spring
will feature mostly sunny with highs in
the low and mid 60s. Winds will be
light from the southwest. YOUR
WEEKEND OUTLOOK: Saturday will likely
feature more clouds than sunshine.
Models are hinting at a 20-30% chance
of a few light showers; but most of the
day we'll stay dry. Highs are expected
in the lower 60s. Easter Sunday should
bring no weather-worries with mainly
sunny conditions; but it will be cooler
