this is one of the biggest drug bust in
the county.

streets range from thousands of dollars
worth of crack cocaine to prescription
drugs.

In a press conference this
afternoon-Henry County Sheriff Lane
Perry said 70 people were indicted on
Monday on drug related charges...

Nearly half of them have been
arrested.. some are sitting in jail

tonight while others are still out on
the streets on bond.

Some of the more serious charges
include more than 70 counts of
distributing cocaine to 1 count of
attempted murder. In that case one of
the people arrested is accused of
hiring someone to kill a police
informant.

The sheriff adds that while all
these arrests were made in Henry County
this was a multi-jurisdictional
operation...

tonight - accused of shooting another.

Thursday It happened Wednesday night on
Florida Avenue.

A 17-year old called police,

saying he was shot while walking down
the street.

He was treated for minor
injuries.

A 16-year-old is now charged with
malicious wounding and using a firearm
in a felony.

He's in custody at the Lynchburg
Juvenile Detention Facility.

The boys' names are not being
released.

determine what caused a Bedford County
man to fall to his death at a
construction site.

Wednesday 51-year-old Donald Lee Patrick
of Moneta was killed Wednesday, when he

fell off scaffolding at the Downtown
Moneta project.

Patrick was working for Riverview
Plumbing, based in Gretna.

It was his first day on the job.

The Bedford County Sheriff's
Office and the medical examiner are
calling Patrick's death an accident.

The Virginia Occupational Health
and Safety office will conduct its own
investigation.

Their review could take up to six
months.

Patrick's funeral will be held
tomorrow in Bedford.

co-defendants in a dogfighting
conspiracy has been released from
federal prison.

VO-NAT Tony Taylor was released Thursday

from a federal prison work camp in
Pennsylvania.

Thirty-five-year-old Taylor
pleaded guilty last July to dogfighting
charges.

Prosecutors said he cooperated
with the government in the case against
Vick and two other men for their roles
in operating Bad Newz Kennels.

a problem across the region -- with
several more weeks left in Virginia's
spring Wildfire Season.

fires last month.

The Greenridge Mountain fire in
Roanoke County burned hundreds of
acres, but statewide -- there's been
more than 100 fires since then.

Since January, 666 wildfires have
burned more than 18-thousand acres
statewide.
