The creature flew out of the
water and struck her as she rode in a
boat in the Florida Keys.
Officials believe the impact is
what killed Judy Zagorski, who was 57
years old.
It's not clear if she received
any puncture wounds from the ray's
venomous barb.
Spotted eagle rays are known to
occasionally jump out of the water, but
they're not aggressive.
They use the barb at the end of
their tail as a defense mechanism.

(Eureka, Mo.) (nats) Flood waters
across much of the Mid-West are still
rising. The storms have moved on but
many rivers aren't expected to hit
their high point for a day or two. For
residents cleaning up a water-logged
mess, there's the very real possibility
they'll get swamped again. (SOT font
early SKIP JONES/RESIDENT 235610): "I'M
LOOKING AT 1-2-3-4-5-6-----6-AND-A-HALF
STEPS AND IT'S IN MY HOUSE. AND WHEN IT
GETS HERE - IT TAKES ALL MY STUFF
AWAY." Flooding is blamed for at least
sixteen deaths and has forced thousands
from their homes. It's a routine many
have been through before....but it
doesn't make it any easier. (SOT CINDY
KUHLMAN/FLOOD VICTIM): "IT'LL
DEFINITELY BRING TEARS TO YOUR EYES
WHEN YOU'RE WATCHING YOUR HOUSE AND
PRAYING IT DON'T GO." (Gwen
Belton/Stand-Up/Eureka, Missouri) A
FOOT OF RAIN IN 36 HOURS WAS JUST TOO
MUCH. COMBINED WITH MELTING SNOW -
RIVERS FROM ARKANSAS TO OHIO ARE
BREAKING THEIR BANKS....AND PUTTING
COMMUNITIES IN JEOPARDY. (SOT MOS
235745): "IF FOR SOME REASON THE LEVEE
DOESN'T HOLD AND WATER GETS INTO TOWN,
WE COULD HAVE WATER 8 FEET TALL IN OUR
BUILDING." Residents trying to fight
the flood have only sandbags and hope,
but neither is in short-supply. (SOT
MOS 235705): "IT'S AMAZING - IT JUST
RAISES YOUR SPIRIT TO KNOW THAT SO MANY
PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO SPEND THEIR TIME
VOLUNTERING TO HELP OUT." And
government forecasters say this might
JUST be the beginning. They're
predicting flooding is going to be a
MAJOR problem this Spring from the
Mid-west to New England. (nats) But for
communities watching the water rise and
hoping they don't get washed out -
that's a worry for another day. Gwen
Belton - CBS News - Eureka, Missouri.

There were many heroes on our campus
last April....
Virginia Tech President Charles
Steger was the keynote speaker at the
American Red Cross' Heroes Breakfast.
He explained how the New River

university on and after April 16-th.
He also thanked the countless
heroes that responded that day as well
as to other tragic events last year.
Joyce Robinson and Bonnie Albert
were presented with the Good Samaritan

out of the wreckage of his gyrocopter.
The aircraft went down in

For every day a child gets some

Working up a sweat *everyday* decreases
the chances by more than 30-percent.

Older people who have significant
trouble staying awake during the day
have more than four times the normal
risk of having a stroke.
Researchers also found a higher risk of
heart attacks and other heart problems
in seniors who regularly nod off during
the day without planning to.

People who eat two or more servings of
red meat a day are much more likely to
develop heart disease and

A new study also found diet sodas were
