look at the crime scene at Roses' store
parking lot. They believe before the
shooting happened-- the suspects may
have driven one of these cars.. The
victim-- was found nearby.

police went in.

were hit head on this morning and
police say the man who hit them was
drunk.

The victims were on their way to
Virginia from North Carolina.
They were driving north on I-77
when authorities say Gary Hicinbothem
of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina,
crossed the median in his truck and
crashed into the three.
This --- near mile marker eight.
State Police say all of the
victims were from Greensboro.
They ranged in age from 45 to 73.

without a home after a fire in
Lynchburg.

It happened around 4:30 this
afternoon at the Maple Ridge apartments
on Reusens (Roo-sins) Road.
Fire officials say a cigarette
was dropped on dry mulch - that started
a fire in front of the "D" building.
Flames quickly moved up the front
of the complex.

Virginia last month are still fresh for
many which is why the Department of
Forestry is reminding people that brush
fire season is not over yet.

fires have burned in Southwest
Virginia.
Forestry officials want to
remind people the 4-pm law is still in
effect until April 30th, when wildfire
season is over.
The law prohibits people from

Officials say 98 percent of fires
in Virginia are caused by people who
burn debris.

out why fish are turning up dead in the
James River in Rockbridge County.
A fisherman spotted about 20 dead
small mouth bass between Balcony Falls
and Snowden last Sunday.
Similar fish kills have happened
each spring on the Shenandoah, James
and other rivers since at least 2004.
Scientists don't have a definite
explanation for fish kills, but a
combination of pollutants and pathogens
is one possibility.

A Virginia Tech researcher found
schools that make it to the Sweet 16
will see an average of a three percent
boost in applications in the next year.
The champion is likely to see a
seven to eight percent jump.

tonight; in the mid 30s.
Easter Sunday looks sunny, with the
exception of a few afternoon clouds. A
light northerly flow of wind will usher
in cooler temperatures, as highs
achieve the lower 50s.

An upper air disturbance combined with
an area of low pressure developing off
the Carolina coast will spread clouds
overhead Sunday night. A few light rain
or snow showers will be possible. Lows
are forecast in the lower 30s.
YOUR EXTENDED FORECAST: Monday quickly
becomes partly sunny, but stays chilly
with afternoon highs only slated in the
mid 40s with breezy conditions. Expect
mostly sunny skies Tuesday and
Wednesday with warmer temperatures near
60. Thursday calls for a 30% shower
chance as a front sags across Virginia.
Highs are forecast in the upper 50s. By
Friday and Saturday we should be in the
"warm sector" of air with a warm front
to our north. This should mean much
warmer temperatures well into the 60s
with partly sunny conditions.

the NCAA Tournament and Saturday
started much the same way in the
nation's capital where the 7th seeded
West Virginia Mountaineers locked up
with the 2 seed Duke.

Greg Paulus goes up top for Gerald
Henderson who throws down 2 of his 18
points for the Blue Devils.
Later, it's Paulus who rings up a
three ball from the outside. He
finished with 13 and Duke led by 5 at

Mountaineers rallied. Check out the
kick out to Radford High grad Darris

Then Alex Ruoff finishes off

apparently has found its new basketball
coach. Multiple sources are reporting
that Marist Head Coach Matt Brady, a
former St. Joe's assistant, will take
over the Dukes program, succeeding Dean
Keener. Brady was 73-50 in four seasons
at Marist and turned around a program
that was 6-22 before his arrival. The
Red Foxes were 18-14 this past year and
11-7 in the Metro Atlantic. Brady told
the Daily News Record in Harrisonburg
tonight, that the deal is not done,
although he did admit that he would be
on campus Monday, presumably to
finalize contract details.

Championship in Salem, defeating
defending champ Ameherst 90 to 68.
Tony Ruths scored 33 points for
Washington, and was named the Most
Outstanding Player. The Bears led by
13 at the half and then cruised in the
final 20 minutes. It's the Bears first
national title, and it was the 50th
NCAA national championship handed out
in the City of Salem.

has the Easter weekend off, but the
Nationwide Series drivers were hard at
it in the Music City of Nashville.

when Busch got loose, and lost the back
end of his ride going for a nice stroll
thru the infield grass. He had led 125
of the first 162 laps.
The race was slowed just 3 times
by cautions, and that was just fine
with Scott Wimmer. Wimmer got past
Bowyer with just 20 laps to go and held
on to notch his first win in the last
five years. Wimmer is also the first
non-Sprint Cup driver to win a
Nationwide race this season.
