fire around Spy Mountain near Raphine
in Rockbridge County.
The fire has spread to about 250
acres.
According to the Raphine
Volunteer Fire Department, no
structures are in immediate danger and
there haven't been any injuries.

recommended a man serve 32 years in
prison.
Leroy Ransome was convicted
yesterday of killing his girlfriend and
for abuse and neglect of their two
children.

cross as the judge announced the guilty
verdict, then repeatedly shook his head
in disbelief.
Ransome said the gun went off by
accident, killing Latasha Boardly after
an all-night party in 2006.

November 16, 2006 Super-8 motel for a night that included
beer and vodka and cocaine.
A firearms expert testified the
gun could not have discharged the way
Ransome said it had.

Families of those killed in the
Virginia Tech shootings, but some of
the families say they haven't heard
anything about it.

Associated Press by one of the
relatives.
In the settlement -families would
get 100-thousand dollars, a chance to
meet and question the governor and
university officials about what
happened that day and coverage for
medical expenses.
News-7 talked to some families by
phone who said they hadn't been
contacted about the settlement -
Governor Kaine says this settlement has
been in the works for months.

our northwest. While clouds will most
certainly increase, a few isolated
showers can't be ruled out Wednesday

southerly and bring in the warmer
temperatures as the week progresses.
Afternoon highs will reach the upper
60s. The boundary will move north as a
warm front bringing afternoon highs
into the mid 70s Friday. Rain chances
increase Saturday with the passage of a
cold front. Look for mostly cloudy
skies and about a 40% chance of
showers. Cooler air moves in Sunday
with afternoon temperatures in the mid
50s. Skies clear on Sunday and Monday,

GRAPHIC=FLY ASH FIGHT A construction project in Giles
County has residents concerned, but the
project has just recieved approal to
move forward.

the environmental impact of the project
for months, but workers are expected to
start placing fly ash on the land very
soon.
Fly ash is leftover when coal is
burned to make electricity.
Appalachian Power will be working
with a non-profit organization called
the Giles Partnership for Excellence.
It will create a 7-acre
commercial building site along Route
460 in Narrows.
The project has been approved by
the necessary state and federal
agencies, but many in Giles County
remain against it.
Five residents have filed a
formal complaint in Circuit Court.

folks to the second floor.

galleries, some of which have already
been painted.

several months to get the art ready for
the new climate.

Montgomery County.
Six clients at his business Sky
Nails said Tran had touched them
inappropriately.
Last week, a judge dismissed a
felony charge of sexual battery against
Tran after watching surveillance video
of his salon.
Yesterday was Tran's third
acquittal, but he has several more
trials to go.

City police officer has pleaded guilty
to drunk driving after he crashed his
cruiser in Pulaski.

Page ran his Roanoke city patrol
car into the guard rail on the

rescheduled.

judge set the trial date suggested by

The trial originally was
scheduled for April Second -- now it'll
be June 23rd.
The suspended Atlanta Falcons

prison term in Leavenworth, Kansas. He
pleaded guilty to his role in a federal
dogfighting conspiracy.

relief...after suffering with a
terrible tooth ache.
Before now...she hadn't been to
a dentist in six years.
The Rescue Mission started offering
dental care back in January after
Doctor Mark Turner agreed to donate his
time.

Turner uses his portable dental
equipment to provide care at the Rescue
Mission at least once a week from
emergency care to routine cleanings.
It's free for the patients...but the
person does have to be homeless or
staying at a shelter to come here.

Hirsbrunner in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. A cold front will approach from
the Ohio Valley and stall out just to
our northwest. While clouds will most
certainly increase, a few isolated
showers can't be ruled out Wednesday
through Friday. Winds will turn more
southerly and bring in the warmer
temperatures as the week progresses.
Afternoon highs will reach the upper
60s. The boundary will move north as a
warm front bringing afternoon highs
into the mid 70s Friday. Rain chances
increase Saturday with the passage of a
cold front. Look for mostly cloudy
skies and about a 40% chance of
showers. Cooler air moves in Sunday
with afternoon temperatures in the mid
50s. Skies clear on Sunday and Monday,
with our next showers chance Tuesday.
