hour for the man who shot a State
Police trooper in Giles County.
It happened in Glen Lyn near the
West Virginia state line.
News 7's Justin McLeod has
details on what happened and who police
are looking for.

when Trooper Richard Hughes,tried to
serve a felony warrant on Steven Dale
Branscome.
Investigators say Branscome fled in a
vehicle and a short time later he got
out of the car and ran.

OR SEVEN TIMES.

several nearby agencies, a tactical
team, and K-9 units to search for
Branscome.
They believe he fled on foot and most
likely he is hiding in the woods.
Investigators consider him armed and
dangerous.

suspect in a rash of shootings along
Interstate 64 in Augusta County.
They're not releasing the
suspect's name because he's only
16-years old.

VO-NAT 19 year old Slade Allen Woodson
was arrested Friday morning at the farm
where he lives.
Woodson and the teen are
suspected in a series of shootings that
began early Thursday morning and left
two people wounded.
Woodson has been charged with 12
counts and the juvenile faces 10
counts.

chase that killed a Campbell County
Deputy will spend nearly a decade
behind bars.

Heather Lynn Bush pled guilty
this afternoon to involuntary
manslaughter and running from police.
When Bush was pulled over in
Lynchburg last April, she gave police a
fake name and took off.
That led to a chase that killed
Deputy Jason Saunders of Altavista.
A judge has recommended Bush
spend the next 7 years in prison.

convicted killer William Morva is
headed to a mental hospital.
Michael's accused of conspiring
to help William escape police custody
in August 2006.
Michael's case was reviewed
today, and he'll have to spend at
least six months at Central State
Hospital before he can stand trial.

GRAPHIC=Fores Fire A forest fire located in the St.
Mary's Wilderness area has scorched
nearly 3-thousand acres.

Yesterday Firefighters continue to battle
the fire in Augusta County.
Nearly 27-hundred acres have
burned since Tuesday afternoon.
Today, V-DOT closed a section of
Route 56, between Route 608 to the Blue
Ridge Parkway.
More than 120 firefigthers are
working this fire from the ground and
the air.
At this point about 20 percent of
the fire is contained.
The cause is still not known.
