man accused of opening fire on trooper
Hughes.
Tonight, State Police have taken
their search for Steven Branscome into
West Virginia.

They headed into Kellysville this
afternoon after getting a lead on a
stolen blue pickup truck.
Kellysville is five miles down
the road from where troopers first came
across Branscome yesterday afternoon.
But authorites also spent much of
the morning searching cars as foks
living near wooded areas made their way
down the mountain side.
They're asking people to stay in
their homes as a precaution.

out of her van this afternoon -- after
a crash in Northwest Roanoke.

of 18th street and Hanover Avenue
shortly before five o'clock.
Witnesses on the scene told News
7 that the car was driven by a police
officer, but when we called the police
department, an operator said she was
told by her supervisor that a Roanoke
Police officer was NOT involved with
the crash.
No word on what caused the wreck,
who was responsible, or how serious any
injuries may be.

information on the Interstate 64
shootings earlier this week --
particularly about the type of gun that
was used.

.22 magnum rifle near one of the
suspect's house shortly after the
shootings.
And now it appears ballistics
tests have positively matched the
casings to this type of gun.
Authorities arrested Slade
Woodson on his farm in Crozet Friday
when they found casings in his car.
The 19-year old along with a
16-year-old are facing several charges
for allegedly shooting at cars as they
drove down I-64 in Augusta County.
State Police say they do not
expect any more arrests.

Virginia Tech shootings to make a
decision about a recent settlement.
Families will have an extra week
to respond to the deal the state is
proposing -- 100 thousand dollars and a

shootings.

coming Monday, now it's April 7th.

job when the meat plant they worked at
exploded last weekend could be moving
to Virginia.

The explosion leveled the Cargill
meat factory which was in Booneville,
Arkansas.
About 800 people worked there.
Now many of the folks have been
offered jobs at other plants in various
states around the country including
Virginia.
Those who don't want to move,
could get a severance package.
Cargill is deciding whether or
not to rebuild the Arkansas plant but
even if they do, it would take at least
a year before production could start up
again.

possible. Lows are forecast in the low
and mid 30s. A few areas could
experience light freezing rain. Any ice
accumulation will be around a trace.
High pressure to our north will create
a "wedge" pattern the next few days.
This will lock in clouds and chances
for occasional light showers, drizzle
and fog. Cooler temperatures should
also be expected. Highs Sunday are
forecast around 40. Winds will be
breezy from the southeast.
The good news: damp and dreary
conditions the next few days will help
with wildfires. The bad news: early
spring "wedges" are hard to break, and
by the time we see a decent amount of
sunshine Wednesday, we're going to be
tired of the clouds and showers!
After a cold, raw, damp Sunday with
highs near 40, we'll stay in the mid
40s Monday, but jump to around 70
Tuesday as a warm front lifts to our
north.
More clouds and a few showers are
possible Thursday and Friday, but with
any luck, we'll clear out by next
Saturday.

the Heels found themselves back in the
same spot, against another Big East
team in Louisville, with a berth in the
Final Four on the line.
